Tableau Solution Engineer - Business Intelligence

BLEND360 is seeking a senior to mid-level technical individual with consulting experience to oversee a 6 month Tableau upgrade project on a contract-to-hire basis.

The Business Intelligence Manager -Tableau Solution Engineering role is to manage the upgrade and maintenance activities in the Tableau server environment working directly with client stakeholders and users and ensuring smooth delivery.

Responsibilities 

• Administer an enterprise instance of Tableau, including maintaining and upgrading Tableau Server, updating the solution to align with security protocols (LDAP), setting up and deploying dev & QA instances, upgrading the infrastructure and cluster configuration (AWS), and deploying new features 
•  Design and run a process for managing patches, server resources, performing server health checks, and failsafe procedures 
• Migration of reports to Tableau Cloud from other BI tools and On Prem Tableau server 
• Performance troubleshooting of dashboards and data sources 
• Resource/space management including the usage analysis of published workbooks to eliminate unused reports 
• Support development of logical and physical processes in data warehouse including creating tables, triggers, ETL and stored procedures and functions to support data needs of the BI reports 
• Partner with internal and client stakeholders in a collaborative environment and come up with win-win solutions in conflict situations 
• Adopt an agile approach with iterative design, prototyping quick hitting solutions and high-value innovation opportunities 
• Document maintenance, data flows and technical designs to ensure compliance with client requirements and handover 

Skills & Qualifications 

• BS/MS Degree in Data Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or experience 
• 5+ years of related work experience preferably as a consultant 
• Deep experience administering an enterprise Tableau instance, performing upgrades, deploying new features and functionality, developing and modifying Tableau reports and data sources 
• Good hands-on/certified experience in other BI tools and environments such as Power BI, Looker, Google Analytics and ThoughtSpot is a plus 
• Strong visualization skills in coming up with aesthetically pleasing and highly functional dashboards; examples of dashboards or a public profile will be helpful 
• Solid SQL experience; ability to create and maintain tables and views, understanding of SQL best practice for query performance 
• Knowledge of, and experience in following a structured development methodology – SDLC, Agile and solid project management skills 
• Ability to show initiative and work independently with minimal direction interacting with senior stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and documentation ethic 
• Demonstrate a desire to remain current with industry technologies and standards especially in the Tableau space
