Tactical Weapons/AT Leadership Instructors I Instructors shall maintain high personal standards of technical knowledge and demonstrate professional competence in delivering training material. Must be able to effectively perform in a military background and possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure, knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/installation environments and configurations. Tactical Weapons/AT Leadership Instructors are expected to be high-level self-starters with the demonstrated technical experience as set forth below, and must keep current on the respective technologies and programmatic advancements associated with the Navy Antiterrorism Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tactical Weapons/AT Leadership Instructors shall deliver classroom training in support of the Navy's Antiterrorism Program, specifically the Antiterrorism Officer (ATO) Level II (A-830-0031, J-830-0032, A830-0037), and Navy Security Force Officer (NSFO) (A-7H-0007) courses of instruction.
  • Must be familiar with applicable reference material as listed in the respective Training Course Control Documents (TCCDs).
  • Shall attend in-service training which is designed to update personnel on Government rules, regulations, and other requirements.

.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/installation environments and configurations.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques and of computer technology applications as they apply to instructional delivery.
  • High personal standards of technical knowledge and professional competence in delivering training material.
  • Familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure.
  • Maintain the personal standards of technical and professional levels of competence that are at least equal to that of the Department of the Navy military personnel undergoing training.
Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Military service equivalent, or,
  • Have attended the Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC)
  • Academic credentialing (teacher/professor), or Instructor training via an academic institution.
  • Successful experience in Antiterrorism Program Management, to include completion of at least 3 years assignment as an Installation Antiterrorism Officer (ATO), Installation Security Officer or Assistant Installation Security Officer; OR
  • Completion of a tour of duty as Echelon 2 command antiterrorism/force protection staff officer, or equivalent experience with NCIS, Afloat Training Group, or TYCOM level or above AT staff, AT assessment team or AT training team.
  • Must possess or be eligible to earn the requisite Course Unique Instructor Training (CUIT) certifications for each variant of the course.
  • Completion of Tidewater Community College course MILT 5100
  • Preferred requirement: Experience in Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO), preferably as a VBSS Boarding Officer.
