Your Opportunity

Scion is paving a path in student living and we’re seeking a Manager, Talent to join us in executing our vision. In addition to leading a team of five, this position is responsible for the planning, development and ongoing evaluation of Scion’s recruitment and branding strategies and recruiting system and process optimization.

Your Responsibilities

Supervisory

·         Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new team members and holding team accountable to meeting performance expectations.

·         Oversees the daily workflow of the department and how goals are achieved.

·         Measure KPIs from Talent team members and report on them monthly to improve talent acquisition strategy and performance and to inform adjustments.

·         Provides development opportunities and constructive and timely performance evaluations.

·         Assists with discipline of employees in accordance with company policy, escalating to supervisor as appropriate.

·         Maintains team spend within approved budget and escalates overages to supervisor for approval.

Operations

·         Automate reporting and measure key Talent insights that impact the talent acquisition strategy and make informed adjustments.

·         Direct workflow and consistently evaluate procedures for improvement.

·         Partner with department heads to stay current on and forecast staffing needs.

·         Ensure the building of talent pipelines is constantly in our purview and is effective.

·         Ensure talent sourcing strategies and hiring decisions align with Scion’s goals and Perspectives, course correcting when necessary.

·         Develop a consistent campaign calendar to increase Scion’s visibility and reputation as an employer of choice, in partnership with the Brand & Experience team. Ensure employer branding strategies are effective, with consistent evaluation.

·         Ensure Scion’s workforce is educated on relevant talent acquisition best practices including developing, delivering and maintaining recruitment training programs for hiring managers and interviewers.

·         Recruit full-cycle for Human Resources department positions as a subject matter expert and a leader who maintains confidentiality. This may include updating job descriptions and sending employment agreements.

·         Ensure external partnerships (i.e. colleges, job boards, vendors, agencies, etc.) are maintained with strong rapport.

·         Assist with billing and invoices for our recruiting and advertising resources.

·         Lead the Internship Program planning and execution as the main stakeholder.

·         Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and company policies.

What We Require

·         Minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience, preferably internally within an organization and increased responsibility with tenure, both task and people management.

·         Thorough understanding of full-cycle recruiting and selection methods, best practices, employer branding techniques and federal, state and local employment laws.

·         Proven to be a successful people leader, fostering high-performing teams. Finds teaching moments in every situation and follows through with strong coaching skills.

·         Exceptional application of critical thinking skills.

·         Extremely credible and reliable.

·         Displays equitable and inclusive moral values and high integrity.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or Business Administration is preferred. SHRM or relevant accredited certification is a plus.

Operational Details

·         Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.

·         Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours, with the exception of managing the offer extension process which can occasionally extend beyond business hours.

·         Opportunity for travel during due diligence process, Turnover cycles (Student Housing annual process) and other ad hoc instances.
