Director, Talent Development

Summary:
The Director, Talent Development has responsibility for management and execution of all programs, initiatives and training aligned to the enterprise talent development strategy. This role does not include functional training within the business units, rather it has oversight and execution responsibility for programs aligned to overall employee and manager development, leadership development, strategic vendor partnerships including Cornerstone LMS, performance management and coaching, career development planning, engagement and retention, new hire orientation, culture and values, and HR compliance training. While there is a strategic component to the role for the enterprise development agenda, this role is the primary owner for delivery of new requests and active programs.
Reporting to the CHRO, this role will have significant impact on reinforcing a performance driven, results-oriented culture and will be a key stakeholder in moving the organization toward a collaboration, service, and learning culture through skills enhancement. We are seeking a leader who is a highly effective, influential change agent, with a passion for innovation and creativity in designing and implementing solutions that develop talent and increase organizational performance, especially as it relates to improving collaboration and service to each other and to our financial professionals. The Director manages a team and third party relationships consisting of instructional design, training, facilitation, content curation and LMS management. This role is a member of the HR Leadership Team and partners strongly with this team to build, measure and deliver on the strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Through needs assessment and gap analysis efforts, identifies key organizational capability requirements and integrates them into short and long-term L&D strategies that are aligned with the overall organizational strategy.
- Manage, deliver, and measure learning and development strategies.
- Conduct talent assessments develop tools and effectiveness analytics.
- Curate and deliver learning curriculum.
- Utilization of the Workday Talent Development function Influences organizational decision-making with the use of relevant, value-added metrics.
- Support initiatives which Identify root cause of behavioral and leadership gaps and create/implement L&D solutions /Individual Development Plans to address the need, especially as it relates to service and collaboration.
- Stay connected to competitive marketplace, best practices, and emerging trends for learning and development strategies and activities. Apply this information in the execution of strategies and determine what is needed to transform formal and informal learning into a performance advantage for the organization.
- Assess, select, and implement programs as appropriate ranging from design, facilitation (instructor-led, eLearning, multimedia) to execution (internal, external, train-the-trainer) to evaluation, ensuring learning and development is delivered with the highest impact and in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. This may, at times, include designing, writing, and delivering content.
- Leverage technology to drive learning, including the use of mobile learning, micro learning, social learning, blended learning, video-based learning, learning management systems, virtual learning environments and gamification.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders for relevant and current new hire onboarding and orientations, training, development opportunities, competency enhancement, career growth, and knowledge transfer. This position is owner of New Hire Orientation program.
- Work with employees to develop targeted development plans. In conjunction with the new employee's leader and Human Resources Business Partner, identify development opportunities to ensure success and advance capability.
- Deliver leadership development curriculum with a focus on building a pipeline of leadership talent.
- Deliver new manager development curriculum to prepare new and experienced managers.
- Manages networking programs to develop talent.
- Participates in the design and implementation of integrated talent development solutions including, individual development planning, talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Manages results-driven performance management tools and processes that integrate with the organization's values and core competencies.
- Responsible for annual programs and all aspects of delivery for leadership development, and meetings and class-based cohorts.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Educational Technology, or related field is preferred, advance degree in related field is a plus. High school diploma (or equivalent) in combination with significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Basic Requirements:
- 7 - 10+ years of experience leading, creating, and facilitating leadership, change management, learning, performance support, career and talent development, instructional design, learning systems, business transformation and organizational development processes.
- Enterprise-wide responsibility for learning and development
- L&D responsibility across multiple sites
- Extensive project and program management
- Experience specifically delivering leadership development programs for senior leader and high potential talent populations
- Succession, 9-box, internal talent brokerage process participation experience
- Experience in high customer touch businesses.
- Learning & Performance Management system management / experience (implementation, testing, integrations, improvement, software management cycles and planning and support)
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in the Wealth Management or Financial Services Industry
- Experience with Workday HR and Cornerstone LMS
- Leading talent development functions through M&A
- Experience in talent development space in a "young" company and culture (organization moving beyond start-up)
