Talent Development Manager
Job Description
The Talent Development Manager is charged with identifying, developing, implementing, and delivering professional development programs and initiatives that drive improvement in the skills, development, engagement, and retention of lawyers throughout the firm. This role initiates, drives, and leads learning-related projects and provides training and development guidance firmwide. The Talent Development Manager plans and implements training programs as part of Dechert's Critical Skills Institute firmwide and partners with practice groups and other business units to ensure client service and satisfaction. As part of the larger Talent team, this role will provide cross support as appropriate on other projects and initiatives.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage, plan, initiate, create, and deliver training programs that develop critical skills and support the execution of the firm's business strategy, including leadership and management skills, legal writing and communication skills, client service, business development, and innovation skills training.
- Oversee the production and implementation of Global Learning and Development (L&D) project plans.
- Perform global training needs analysis.
- Help achieve CLE/CPD accreditation for global skills programs.
- Manage regional L&D programs.
- Partner with practice groups, departments, and managers to identify learning and development needs, determine capability gaps and assess client satisfaction to target ways to improve overall employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Partner with the Talent Development team to identify synergies between lawyer and business professional training programs and initiatives.
- Manage metrics and reporting to measure effectiveness of global programs to inform future training initiatives. Utilize data to expand fundamental knowledge, broaden skills and anticipate future training needs.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders on special projects where subject areas may overlap, such as innovation training, technology training, or compliance training.
- Support the implementation of a new onboarding process for lateral lawyers.
- Connect with peer firms and attend relevant forums to stay abreast of current L&D developments, including market and best practice.
- Support the Global Director of Professional Development with budget planning and reports.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A J.D. with law firm practice experience and/or an existing L&D professional with experience of working at a law firm (or another professional services industry);
- A legal background is desirable but not essential if the candidate has relevant L&D experience in a professional services sector;
- At least five years of experience in learning and development (less if have a J.D./legal practice background);
- Detail-oriented;
- Capable of working within deadlines;
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage own work and the work of others to meet strict deadlines;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to exchange information and present ideas, report facts and position messages clearly and concisely;
- Ability to communicate in a professional and diplomatic manner;
- Good grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension;
- Ability to problem solve and be forward thinking;
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks;
- Organized;
- Team player;
- Highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and learning management systems.
