Overview

The Manager, Talent Development manages the execution and delivers the instruction of SGWS's talent development programs that enhance employees' development, performance, and effectiveness. This position also serves as a direct manager to Talent Development Facilitators, providing leadership, coaching, and development. Provides best-in-class development tools and builds a training schedule that capitalizes on SGWS concepts and guiding principles, offering employees high-impact learning opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and direct Talent Development facilitators. Provide guidance, career/development planning, and continuous performance feedback to execute against objectives and adjust to shifting organizational priorities.• Facilitate trainings with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures via instructor led and remote workshops.• Evaluate modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual, to optimize training effectiveness, training costs, or environmental impacts.• Partner with key stakeholders to measure the impact of training programs using Kirkpatrick's Four Levels Evaluation Model to review necessary changes and form the basis for program feedback.• Promote and deliver innovative company-wide development programs that result in positive behavior changes towards employee development and prepare employees for career advancement; coach and train managers to take ownership for embedding best practices to include onboarding and development initiatives.• Research and keep abreast of external trends, innovations, and best practices in the Talent Development field to ensure the quality of programs.• Manage and oversee delivery and scheduling of training programs based on availability of venue, equipment, and facilitators.• Assist in maintaining the systems, processes, and programs in support of function specific, leadership development, and other organizational development/effectiveness programs.• Analyze and assess employee development needs, instructional goals, and objectives to determine appropriate methods of instructional design for both instructor-led and eLearning programs.• Ability to travel up to 40%. • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred.• Demonstrates knowledge and application of business and project management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and employee management.• Demonstrates knowledge and application of instructional design principles and methods for curriculum and training design, facilitation of training activities, implementing talent development processes and programs, adult learning theory, training material delivery techniques, and measurement of training effectiveness and ROI.• Possesses advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, software applications, HR technology, and learning management systems (LMS) capabilities/functionalities.• Demonstrates effective leadership skills and capabilities to build and maintain dynamic, remote teams, including motivating, developing, coaching, monitoring performance of, and directing employees; directly addresses conflicts and problems and holds others accountable.• Ability to build, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships in a highly matrixed organization with a variety of situations, individuals, and groups; builds trust and buy-in with internal and external stakeholders and can bring others together to reconcile differences and reach mutually agreed-upon solutions to implement change.• Demonstrates creative thinking skills in the form of new and original ideas and alternative ways of thinking; possesses an innovative mindset to continuously improve programs and processes.• Demonstrates strategic thinking skills; formulates and implements a long-term vision which aligns talent development programs and processes to organizational goals, objectives, vision, and strategy.• Manages time and multiple projects effectively; sets clearly defined objectives and manages resources appropriately to accomplish tasks and meet project objectives; is careful and thorough in completing work tasks, prioritizes effectively, and follows through on commitments.• Demonstrates excellent communication skills; effectively cascades information to all relevant stakeholders and business functions within the appropriate time frame and setting.• Demonstrates integrity by being honest and consistently adhering to the moral and ethical standards set by Southern Glazer's values, policies, and procedures; maintains discretion when working with sensitive/confidential subject matter such as employee data.• Committed to professionalism (i.e., professional greetings, proper telephone etiquette, common courtesy, professional attitude, appearance), demonstrates composure and objectivity even in high-stress situations or when receiving constructive feedback.

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or mobile device.
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping.
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs.
