The Talent Management Manager leads the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide talent management strategies, processes, products and services. This working manager will serve as an internal consultant to the HR Talent Management teams across Southern Company and will lead a small, agile team (a TM OE Consultant and a Project Manager). The position can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Birmingham or Atlanta and will report to the Manager of Leadership and Talent Transformation.

The Talent Management Manager leads the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide talent management strategies, processes, products and services. This working manager will serve as an internal consultant to the HR Talent Management teams across Southern Company and will lead a small, agile team (a TM OE Consultant and a Project Manager). The position can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Birmingham or Atlanta and will report to the Manager of Leadership and Talent Transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development and implementation of enterprise talent management strategies and initiatives to include (but not limited to) leadership and employee development, succession planning, performance management, high potential development, coaching, assessments, competency models and talent review processes and others as needed to address talent challenges and gaps aligned to business needs
- Responsible for program/project components, including project charters, deliverables, leading project team members, deadlines, budgets, resolving issues, communication protocols, etc.
- Provide consultative support to operating company HR talent management teams to support operating company specific talent management needs assessments and solutions
- Deliver supporting data, analytics and reports on talent management initiatives and outcomes to drive and influence program design and delivery and process enhancements
- Research, recommend and offer best practices (both internally and externally) for both enterprise and business unit/operating company needs in support of talent management deliverables
- Ensure alignment with other talent strategies across the system
- Oversee core operational aspects for Talent Management department including core contracts with external vendors, budget, communications, website presence, analytics, etc.
- Provide support on other initiatives as needed
- 7 years of progressive and successful experience in talent management, organizational effectiveness, development or closely related field
- Demonstrated talent management or development experience
- Strong aptitude for business acumen and how to link talent management initiatives to business outcomes
- Ability to quickly establish relationships within an organization. Excellent collaboration and influencing abilities with HR partners, business leaders and employees
- Ability to work and communicate effectively across cultures and across levels (written and verbal). Experience working in a matrixed organization preferred
- Strong critical thinking skills, problem solving and decision making skills and the ability to use analytics to identify trends and implications relevant to talent management
- Ability to develop and execute innovative and creative solutions that are relevant to driving business talent priorities
- Strong, timely project management, consulting, and facilitation experience
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations using data, graphics, and effective storytelling and influencing skills to communicate insights and implications for decision making
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently, as well as across teams to manage competing priorities
- Work with a strong propensity to deliver business compelling results
