Position Description

The Tax Accounting Manager is an experienced individual contributor that will work with a team of other experienced Accounting Managers and Senior Accountants to manage the direction and coordination of all company tax matters, internal preparation of all federal, state, and local income, property, sales, and other tax returns, and estimated tax payments.

The Tax Accounting Manager reporting to the Tax Director is a regular, full-time position and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads the tax function of Origis Services, Origis’ Asset Management and O&M division.
• Analyzes, develops, and implements strategic tax plan at the corporate level and its subsidiaries.
• Assists in due diligence related to the development and acquisition of and power plants with focus on ITC/PTC Tax credits and partnership returns.
• Coordinates all IRS and state income tax audit examinations including complex multi-state and federal tax compliance process including but not limited to sales and use tax, property tax, and income tax.
• Provides proactive tax guidance and support for corporate tax issues, estimates quarterly tax payments, forecasts tax provisions and accruals.
• Works closely with shareholders, accounting, finance, and operation teams to ensure strategic alignment of the tax function with other business operations.
• Assists senior management with payroll tax issues, complex tax matters and deal structures.
• Coordinates use of outside tax advisors and outside consultants as needed. Acts as key advisor to other financial and operating units throughout the organization.
• Provides management with timely reviews of organization tax status.
• Prepares and coordinates information reporting including but not limited to forms 1099 and 990.
• Assists in designing, implementing, and continually improving department procedures to facilitate pro-active identification and resolution of tax issues.
• Assures that all tax returns and reports are filed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assists the Tax Director with providing proactive tax guidance and support for corporate and shareholder tax issues.
• Keeps up to date on overall activities of the accounting and finance team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and CPA (preferred)
• Minimum of 3-6 years related experience or equivalent
• State & Local, Sales & Use, and Property Tax experience required
• Extensive experience working with and preparing HLBV models is preferred
• Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method
• Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages
• Proficient in Excel
• Renewable energy experience a plus
• Strong accounting skills and demonstrated knowledge of tax laws
