Tax Analyst

This role provides support to the various groups within Northern Trust's Tax Department. The primary focus is to manage distribution of workflow for certain facets of tax filings between said groups. The partner has a list of processes that they will be proficient in such as web cash movements, State and Federal refund check deposits, and quarterly Estimated Tax Payments. These duties are distributed evenly among other TAS members so that they can work together efficiently. Also, the partner handles daily office duties such as scanning confidential documents, receiving and sorting mail, and responding to email inquiries.

Major Duties:

• Handles sensitive and confidential information properly.
• Assists in responding to inquiries associated with the Team's shared mailboxes.
• Processes Web Cash movements in relation to tax refunds and tax payments.
• Oversees a group of Estimated Tax Payments for clients that is actioned quarterly.
• Responsible for assisting in the Fiduciary Income Tax return filing process which includes uploading barcodes, sorting tax returns, and creating and signing transmittals.
• Communicates with other groups within the Tax Department to action tax filing discrepancies.
• Assigns workflows to the Tax Preparers for assignments like New Account setups, IRS notices, and income tax refund check discrepancies.
• Works with other TAS partners to assign EINs and action assignments through our SharePoint Communication Tracker.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Detail oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills in person and in email.
• Ability to work in a high volume/deadline oriented environment.
• Basic knowledge of office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
• Knowledge of computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

The successful candidate will benefit from having the following competencies:

• Familiarity with ONESOURCE Trust Tax, SharePoint, IMS Reflections, and a Web Cash movement site is a plus.
• Experience operating at an administrative capacity while working in an office environment.
