Job Description

Tax compliance is becoming increasingly data driven and this role is designed to support IG's ever growing tax compliance obligation, which becomes more complicated as the group expands and complex tax laws are rolled out. The role is integral to ensuring accurate and timely tax filings and payments are made across the group and offers an opportunity to learn about many different types of tax across the globe. No prior tax knowledge is required, but prior experience in a finance role is preferred. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn about various global taxes.

Your role in the team

There are broadly 4 areas of tax at IG, Corporate, Client, Employment and Indirect taxes and this role will have opportunities to support all of them. There are vast amounts of data that require sense checking, manipulating and configuring into tax authority friendly formats. A successful candidate will also have the ability to adapt and improve the existing tax processes.

The tax function reports directly to the CFO and consists of the Group Head of Tax, Head of Indirect Tax, 3 Senior Tax Managers, and 2 Tax Managers. This role will have day to day reporting responsibilities to London based Senior Managers.

What you’ll do

- First line monitoring and maintenance of the global compliance tracker, keeping the team updated with upcoming deadlines for tax returns/payments and dealing directly with 3rd party advisors.

- Assistance with gathering financial and other data from various sources for summarising and reporting to tax authority e.g. "country by country reporting", indirect tax (VAT) reporting and helping develop a new reporting process for global "pillar 2" requirements.

- Working with large data sets to identify staff travel that requires additional tax filings ("short term business visit" & "UK benefits in kind reporting") and supporting the expansion of this monitoring to more countries to reduce IG’s overall risk.

- Assisting with share scheme reporting - ensure employees suffer the right amount of tax.

- Operational tax reporting – extracting & cleansing IG client trading data to report to the tax authorities and preparing first drafts of various global tax returns. - Assisting with preparing transfer pricing documentation.

What you’ll need for this role

- Graduate degree is must, preferably from a finance background (must).

- Strong analytical skills(must) – with a natural curiosity and confidence to question and dig deeper if information does not make sense.

- High proficiency in Excel is must.

- Experience with writing queries in Excel/VBA/SQL an advantage, but not essential.

- Tax knowledge an added advantage, but not essential.

- Self-motivated team player who is diligent, proactive, organised and has an attention to detail.

- Good collaborator, able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

- Adaptable and enjoys a dynamic, rapidly changing working environment.
