Tax and Accounting Specialist (Remote)

At ezCater, the Finance & Accounting teams drive financial strategy, orchestrate the company-wide capital allocation process and maintain the sound controllership environment that enables the successful growth of our business. The Tax & Accounting Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day tax and billing related accounting operations run smoothly, while continually driving ideas for automation, efficiency, and improved internal controls, to move the business forward.

What You'll Do: 

• Timely performances of sales tax exemption certificate validation, including evaluation and oversight of third-party consultants also supporting this task.
• Identify, document, and deploy improved procedures to gain efficiency. 
• Perform research and document findings on state and local sales tax related matters raised by customers, business partners, other departments, etc.
• Review journal entries as well as prepare and review GL account reconciliations.
• Assist with customer service and billing related inquires in a timely manner.
• Support accounts receivable related matters.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Have: 

• Working knowledge of sales tax and sales tax exemption certificate management. 
• 3 or more years of accounts receivable and billing and experience and related systems (e.g., Ariba, Coupa).
• Experience with Avalara CertCapture.
• Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting.
• Strong research and documentation abilities, with a focus on tax, regulatory and legal concepts.
• Process improvement driven problem-solving skills.
• Self-directed individual who works cross-functionally with other teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal departments and external customers.
• Relentlessly resourceful, diligent, and willing to learn, particularly in the field of tax.
• An appetite for change: If something isn’t working, we fix it. And then we fix it again.

The national cash compensation range for this role is $67,000 - $91,000**
