Job Summary:

Ruggable is a high growth direct to consumer brand with great ambitions and needs a motivated Tax Associate to help a small but mighty tax team scale as the company expands. The Tax Associate is a key position that will unlock value for stakeholders of the organization by: working closely with our tax manager and outside CPAs on partnership tax matters (federal, state and local) and indirect taxes including sales/use tax. In addition, the Tax Associate will work cross functionally on special projects involving international expansion. 

 What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing annual and quarterly state and federal tax estimate calculations
  • Assist in paying annual and quarterly state and federal tax liabilities
  • Register for new accounts with various state and local governments as needed
  • Perform monthly reconciliation between government and company records
  • Maintain an accurate database of tax records and make adjusting entries to tax accounts when necessary
  • Create additional documentation as needed, including internal tax payment forecasting reports
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate tax information to company investors and coworkers outside of the accounting department
  • Stay updated on industry developments
  • Assist with international tax and trade matters (e.g. applications and returns)

 What You’ll Need to Have:

Required:

  • Exemplary accounting and bookkeeping skills
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal tax codes, laws, and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively

 Preferred:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in tax preparation, finance, or accounting
  • Experience in accounting related software, such as NetSuite or a tax preparation program
  • International experience
  • Partnership experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CPA)

Compensation:

  • $75,000 - $87,000 per year base salary
  • An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
  • Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
