Tax Director

Job Summary:

Ruggable is a high growth direct to consumer brand with great ambitions and needs a motivated Tax Director to help a small but mighty tax team scale as the company expands. The Tax Director is a key position that will unlock value for the stakeholders of the organization by: working closely with our CFO, accounting team, and outside CPAs on partnership tax matters (Fed, State, Local), international tax and indirect taxes including sales/use tax. In addition, the Tax Director will work cross functionally on special projects including transfer price studies involving international and product expansion.

What You’ll Do:

• Be responsible for timely final review and delivery of the U.S federal and state income tax and international compliance.
• Manage preparation and review of annual and quarterly state/local and federal tax estimate calculation, including federal and state K-1s packages for Ruggable’s investors. 
• Apply an understanding of complex tax concepts and tax knowledge to existing processes throughout the year with regards to the partnership's tax planning.
• Provide input on day-to-day tax matters such as sales and use tax, VAT, property taxes and business licenses. 
• Manage your own independent day to day responsibilities, while maintaining the overall goals of the entire organization in mind.
• Lead and manage all responsibilities of the Tax team, including paying of annual and quarterly state and federal tax liabilities, monthly reconciliation between government and company records, maintaining an accurate database of tax records, and registering new accounts with various state and local governments, as needed.
• Interact with senior members of the Finance organization and other business leaders within Ruggable.
• Review workpapers, tax returns, and related projects prepared by team members.
• Stay updated on company and industry developments and associated tax exposures.
• Responsible for developing the team of individuals and providing feedback on a regular basis.
• Develops innovative tax planning ideas that increase department efficiencies and reduce tax burden to the firm's partners.

 What You’ll Need to Have:

Required:

• Strong technical skills in partnership and multi-state taxation.
• Experience with international tax including transfer price studies.
• Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership ability.
• Exemplary accounting and bookkeeping skills.
• Degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
• In-depth knowledge of state and federal tax codes, laws, and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized and adept at prioritizing multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
• Strong project management skills. Must be able to take a project from initiation to completion.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CPA for work in the U.S.)

Preferred:

• 8+ years’ experience in tax preparation or accounting with exposure to partnerships
• Experience in accounting related software, such as NetSuite, and tax preparation programs
• International tax experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience at Big Four accounting firms in audit, tax, or advisory
• IPO preparedness and public company tax exposure
• Experience with Up-C transactions
