Tax Lead

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Leadership

• Oversees daily efforts of the Non Income Tax operation team exemption certificate review, internal and external correspondence and other duties in their day to day work
• Ensures operation team members follow policies and procedures for acceptance of customer provided exemption certificates and resolving customer sales tax disputes
• Provides orientation, training and guidance to new employees or contractors in support of company policy and procedures
• Manage tax sales tax compliance calendar and tax registrations, as well as other regulatory indirect tax returns and remittances
• Identifies trends and drives process improvements when necessary
• Collaborate with teams to implement process improvements to Exemption Certificate Management processes

Customer Service

• Accountable for maintaining best in class customer service experience regarding sales tax billing issues
• Resolve customer sales tax issues promptly and accurately to maintain a high level of customer service
• Work with external service providers in relation to indirect tax reporting and data gathering to make sure all compliance is filed timely and accurately

Problem Solving 

• Analyzes legislative changes for impacts on jurisdictional sales exemption documentation
• Recommends solutions to ensure compliance, documents all resulting process changes
• Review and approve customer provided exemption documentation
• Utilizing tax research tools, research state tax laws to determine the appropriate taxation of products and services sold by Zoro configure sales tax software as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of multi state sales tax experience
• Advanced understanding of sales exemption certificate review process
• Advanced knowledge of sales and use tax laws and concepts
