About the Role
Atlassian is looking for a Tax Manager to join our Global Tax Team reporting into our Head of Global Tax Planning. In this pivotal role you'll contribute to the global tax strategy that will empower the company as it navigates the ever-evolving global tax environment. This role will contribute to the development of tax-efficient structures ensure compliance with complex US international tax laws and regulations and partner cross-functionally to support business strategy. The ideal candidate brings tax technical expertise a collaborative and curious mindset a hands-on approach to problem-solving and the ability to identify opportunities for automation and AI adoption within tax processes.

In this role you will:
- Manage the global tax model and assist in the execution of global tax planning strategies to optimize the company's global effective tax rate cash tax position and operational efficiency.
- Support quarterly and annual income tax provisions through preparation and/or review of US calculations
- Maintain US international tax calculations including but not limited to NCTI FDDEI BEAT Subpart F IRC Sections 986/987 and foreign tax credit.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external advisors to assess tax implications of business activities new initiatives and cash tax forecasting.
- Monitor global tax developments including US legislative changes; assess impacts and communicate recommendations to leadership.
- Drive process improvements including AI/automation opportunities technology adoption and scalable workflows to support a growing global footprint
- Support M&A projects through tax due diligence evaluation of transaction structures post-acquisition integration and ongoing compliance management.
On your first day we'll expect you to have:
- CPA and/or JD
- Master of Taxation or other advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a combination of Big 4 and corporate tax department with multinational operations.
- Strong understanding of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes including provision review uncertain tax positions and global tax reporting.
- Working knowledge of US international tax laws and regulations (Transfer Pricing Subpart F NCTI FDDEI BEAT FTCs).
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills including experience developing forecasting models and using tax forecasting tools.
- Curiosity and a proactive hands-on approach to exploring AI and new tools processes and technologies.
- An ownership mentality strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-growth environment.
Compensation
At Atlassian we strive to design equitable explainable and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills expertise or experience.
In the United States we have three geographic pay zones. For this role our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $144900 - $189175
Zone B: $130500 - $170375
Zone C: $120600 - $157450
This role may also be eligible for benefits bonuses commissions and equity.
