Job Description
Gunderson Dettmer has an opening for a Tax Staff Accountant in our Silicon Valley office. This role works closely with the Director of Tax Reporting on a variety of tax projects, ensuring compliance and efficiency in both domestic and international tax matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Gather and prepare timely and accurate tax schedules required by outside tax advisors to support the federal, state, local and foreign tax returns.Â
- Partner Accounting: Calculate taxable income, generate partner tax memos, manage profit distributions, and reconcile prepaid tax accounts.
- Audit support: Assist with tax audits and respond to notices from tax authorities.
- Process Improvement: Identify and improve processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax functions.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up to date tax records and documentation to support financials, tax filings and audits.
- Other: Participate in ad hoc projects, as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Proactive attitude with a strong sense of ownership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Some understanding of partnership accounting and taxation is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or accounting.
- At least two years of prior accounting experience required, law firm or other professional services preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
Status
- Full Time, Exempt.
The expected starting salary for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.Â
