The TL, Sr. Consultant has day-to-day front-line supervisory responsibilities for an Investment Operations team providing services to internal and/or external clients. Works under minimal supervision and can set direction and objectives for the team. Organizes the work of the team, assigns tasks, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work. Possesses the management and organizational skills required to prioritize assignments and provide feedback to staff. Job focus is on managing others and applying operational and strategic management skills. Management responsibilities and decisions likely include hiring, performance reviews, pay decisions and development. Achieves goals mostly through work of others. Supervises the daily activities of support team members. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other TLs and Managers. Problem solving is guided by policies and procedures; receives guidance and oversight from manager. Does not typically perform the work supervised but will be expected to be familiar enough to teach the work to team members.
- Recruit, train, mentor and develop employees.
- Assist in defining performance standards, conduct performance reviews and handle salary administration.
- Provide management, leadership and guidance to staff, creates an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, and communication.
- Conducts performance management and career development processes; talent and succession planning; and staffing and disciplinary actions.
- Proactively prepares to ensure an effective onboarding experience for new Partners.
- Oversee the delivery of daily functions and tasks in order to meet client Service Level Agreements.
- Engage in the generation, interpretation and actioning of Management Information Statistics (MIS). •Able to identify opportunities for improvement within existing technology applications while acting as a liaison with Partner areas to drive resolution.
- Ensure appropriate operational controls in order to manage and mitigate risk to Northern Trust.
- Responsible for increasing knowledge of the IOO product & service delivery model.
- Research, analyze and resolve complex client inquiries.
- May assist in performing cost benefit and impact analysis related to the request for new client services.
- Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact; delivers a work product that requires little revision.
- Build working relationships with clients
- Responsible for the delivery and continuous enhancement of IOO middle office operations and client services.
- Serve as a point of escalation, maintain and monitor issues log and work to resolve client servicing issues in a timely manner.
- Contribute and participate in scheduling and conducting Quarterly Service Reviews, Due Diligence meetings, and other Client meetings as required
- Responsible for understanding the client's business and needs/deliverables
- Responsible for obtaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of IOO products and services and how they are manufactured and delivered.
- Ensures internal and Client issues are communicated and escalated in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the Global Services Engagement model, responsible for coordinating global service delivery across NT servicing teams and regions.
- Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
- Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities.
- Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
- Guided by policies and procedures, impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the department

- Has some previous leadership experience either coordinating resources and/or setting daily priorities to meet operational objectives
- A College or University degree and/or 4-6+ years of relevant proven work experience
- Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or middle office Investment Operations experience a plus
- Previous client management and client service experience in a service-oriented environment •Knowledge of financial services, asset management and/or investment operations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
