This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Team Lead Data Engineer in France.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and technical leadership, focusing on building and scaling data platforms that power global, high-traffic digital products. You will lead a small engineering team while remaining hands-on in designing data pipelines, optimizing data workflows, and ensuring reliable data delivery across multiple systems. The position involves close collaboration with product, marketing, and analytics stakeholders to integrate diverse data sources and enable business insights at scale. You will also contribute to the modernization of data infrastructure, including migration to cloud-native environments such as Google Cloud Platform. This is a highly impactful leadership role in a fully remote, international environment where engineering quality and innovation are strongly valued.
Accountabilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data services in Python, including integrations with marketing partners and external data sources.
- Build, optimize, and maintain Airflow-based data pipelines ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Develop and enhance SQL-based data warehouse structures, including stored procedures and complex query logic.
- Create and support reporting solutions and dashboards using SSRS, Superset, or similar BI tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Support migration initiatives from legacy systems (e.g., MS SQL) to cloud-based architectures on Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, best practices, and data engineering standards across the team.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a small team of data engineers.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related backend/data-focused roles, including team leadership exposure.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including window functions, complex joins, and query optimization.
- Solid Python programming experience with at least 1+ year of hands-on development in data engineering contexts.
- Experience working with Airflow for orchestration of data workflows.
- Hands-on experience with data warehouses and BI tools such as MSSQL, SSRS, Superset, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including managed data services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.
