Job Description

This management position is responsible for leading the Embedded Systems engineering team and their efforts to support current products and develop the next generation of products. This lead engineer position works strategically with management to direct and coordinate the embedded systems engineering team to design new systems, provide support for research and development of new technologies, perform system validation and verification, and provide support to other teams and current customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing leadership to the Embedded Systems engineering team in the design and development of new products, maintaining and improving the current products and resolving issues.
  • Coordinating and directing projects, making detailed plans, risk assessments and mitigation plans and schedules to deliver on assigned goals.
  • Coordinating with other engineering teams such as Software, Firmware, Mechanical and Quality Assurance to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Working closely with the product management team to drive the product development roadmap.
  • Providing strategic input to management on new product development.
  • Providing status reports to Management.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with stakeholders, including clinicians, grant writers, and other engineering teams, to rapidly prototype next generation product designs.
  • Work with the development team to design, prototype, and iterate on new product designs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

Education:

  • Master's of science degree in an engineering discipline, or a related degree, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Excellent initiative and project and people management skills.
  • Strong leadership and self-motivation to work with others as well as independently.
  • At least 8 years hands-on experience, with an emphasis in product design and development.
  • Track record of developing products from concept through to production.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as versioning systems, agile tools, wikis, bug trackers, etc.
  • Must be self-organized and self-motivated, and able to be a strong contributor to our collaborative, innovative, and agile interdisciplinary design team.
  • Must be a strong communicator, with acceptable writing skills Familiarity with medical devices and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks.
