Sportradar‘s newly founded Sports Virtualisation unit develops innovative and disruptive technology to enable the transition from traditional sports media consumption to new ways to engage with sports. The latest computer vision technology is key to allow real-time rendering of statistics and virtual ads on top of broadcasts. It also enables the use of skeletal tracking data to render virtual recreations of sports events and transform the way they are experienced. Together with the top leagues and federations around the globe, we are working on our vision for a range of products to increase fan engagement for the world of tomorrow. 

We are looking for you to fill the role as Team Lead for Unreal Engine development to join the team of talented C++/Blueprint developers and 2D/3D artists to create engaging products using Unreal Engine 5.4 / 5.5. Through the availability of skeletal tracking data of live sports events, completely new products can be produced which use game engine technology in non-standard ways. Generating live streams from cloud-based setup, over production of clips in render farms to real-time interactive tools and games are only some of our topics. 

THE CHALLENGE: 

• You will manage our international team of C++ developers and designers in exciting projects as well as do maintenance and stabilization of running systems. 

• You guide your team through the planning and development of new features together either with C++ or using Blueprints in the latest Unreal Engine version.

• Mentor and lead our development squad, fostering a collaborative, respectful, motivated and productive environment. Provide guidance, support, and feedback to team members, ensuring their growth and development.

• Oversee and contribute to the testing and quality assurance processes, ensuring that the project is working properly and it meets the expectations.

• Your code is highly optimized and efficient to guarantee real-time rendering on modern hardware and cloud infrastructure. 

Qualifications

• Past proven leadership skills where you lead a development team, inspiring growth and motivation in alignment with the company’s direction.
• Effective Communication and Collaboration Skills: You excel in team-leading, ensuring productivity, positive ambience and harmonious collaboration.
• You are well-versed in Unreal Engine development with Unreal Engine 5 being a plus
• You deliver software solutions considering SOLID and Clean Code as well as Design Patterns
• Understanding of C++ Code, Blueprints, Widgets, and general Level Design inside Unreal Engine.
• You have a good command of written and spoken English
• You are interested in sports, game development and video streaming technology
• Experience with test-driven development is considered a plus
• IT-related university degree (BA / MA), or similar
