Who are we looking for? 

As a Team Leader for the Payment Posting Process within our Revenue Cycle Management department, you will lead a team of payment posting specialists responsible for accurately and efficiently recording and reconciling payments received from patients and insurance providers. This crucial role directly impacts the financial health of our organization by ensuring that payments are applied correctly, denials are addressed promptly, and revenue is maximized.

• Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC) is a plus. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Team Leadership: 

1. Lead and supervise a team of payment posting specialists. 

2. Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching. 

3. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. 

4. Manage workload distribution and ensure equitable work allocation. 

2. Payment Posting Management: 

1. Oversee the accurate and timely recording of payments, adjustments, and denials in the billing system. 

2. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer-specific payment guidelines. 

3. Review and approve payment posting entries for accuracy and completeness. 

4. Monitor and manage payment posting backlogs and prioritize workload. 

3. Reconciliation and Reporting: 

1. Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of payments to ensure accuracy. 

2. Generate and analyze reports related to payment posting productivity, trends, and discrepancies. 

3. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the payment posting team. 

4. Provide regular performance updates to the Revenue Cycle Manager. 

4. Quality Assurance: 

1. Implement and maintain quality control measures to reduce errors in payment posting. 

2. Conduct regular audits of charge entries to identify and address discrepancies. 

3. Provide training and guidance to team members on coding and documentation requirements. 

5. Performance Reporting: 

1. Generate and analyze reports related to charge entry productivity and accuracy. 

2. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the charge entry team. 

3. Provide regular performance updates to the Revenue Cycle Manager. 

6. Process Improvement: 

1. Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow optimization. 

2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements. 

3. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting charge entry. 

7. Compliance: 

1. Ensure that charge entry practices adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA. 

2. Stay informed about changes in coding and billing regulations and communicate updates to the team.
