Tech Lead Data Engineer

Currently, we are looking for a Tech Lead Data Engineer for our team in Poland.

Your daily responsibilities:

• Designing, architecting, and implementing modern cloud-based pipelines for our customers
• Making data accessible and usable for a new wave of data-powered apps and services
• Your time will be split between hands-on project work (data engineering and data solution architecture), and technical leadership (1:1s, helping plan professional growth) of the team

As we have varying opportunities to work internationally, some readiness to travel in Poland and other locations in Europe is required.

Your key skills:

• 10+ years of professional programming experience and hands-on experience in building modern data platforms/pipelines
• Experience creating data engineering architectures
• Experience tech-leading people
• At least one programming language: Python/Scala/Java
• Experience in job orchestration (Airflow, Composer, etc)
• OPS knowledge - Kubernetes/Docker/CI/CD - how to efficiently put things into prod
• Basic IaaC skills (Terraform or similar tools)
• Testing skills (writing automated tests/data quality checks)
• Basic low-tech data analytics skills - Excel/pandas
• At least two of the following skill sets:
  • Experience in one of the major Cloud Hyperscalers: AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
    • Experience in Data Engineering related technology stack (Azure Synapse, ADF, AWS Glue, Google Big Query - this is not an exhaustive list)
    • Active (knowledge-proven) certificates are a plus
    • Good knowledge of data storage and processing engines in the selected Cloud provider
    • Knowledge of more than one cloud is a plus
  • Experience in Big Data technologies (in the cloud or on-prem)
    • Spark (Scala or pySpark)
    • Hadoop, HDFS, Hive/Impala, Pig
    • Familiarity with Big Data file formats
    • MongoDB or Cassandra is a plus
    • Selecting appropriate database engine for various use cases
    • Familiarity with data lake architectures is a plus
    • Databricks or Snowflake is a plus
  • Experience in SQL
    • Data modeling (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, etc)
    • Advanced SQL in any SQL dialect
      • ANSI SQL/specific database specific dialects
      • Spark SQL
      • Hiv/Impala
      • Presto/Trino
    • Experience building ETL processes for data warehousing solutions
• Consultancy experience
• Previous experience gained in mid-size/large, international companies
• Fluent communication skills in English
