About the Role
The Data Platform provides end-to-end data and metrics management at Nuro. Our team is growing and we are looking for a strong technical leader to lead the Metadata team. The Metadata team provides the foundational Metadata framework including scalable database backend, proper table schema management, robust API access and integration to dozens of applications including simulation, validation, ML platform and autonomy teams. We partner with the autonomy and autonomy product team to support product or performance evaluation. As the TLM, you will be responsible for advancing our metadata systems to speed-up autonomy feature development and our long term autonomy progress.

About the Work

• Provide centralized robotics metadata management, services, tools, and APIs for data-intensive autonomy and product applications
• Lead and execute coherent strategy to integrate other services or applications to Metadata, manage data movements via ETL pipelines in and out Metadata
• Develop continuous testing and validation systems to ensure the robustness of our data and data architectures
• Mentor and support both Metadata members to grow
• Collaborate with Product, Autonomy, Systems, and Simulation teams to define the vision and strategies of evaluation at Nuro

About You

• Domain experience: Experience working with large scale data and building scalable & reliable systems / data pipelines; ability to understand and design complex systems
• Engineering leadership: Experience setting team or project product and technical vision, timelines and prioritization; Clear and concise communicator who collaborates effectively with PMs, engineers, and other stakeholders
• People Management: Experience managing and mentoring junior and senior engineers, supporting team and engineer growth; experience working with other stakeholders to inform team's direction; strong communication skills
• Technical excellence: Ability and willingness to deep dive into implementation, driving technical standards and best practices across broader software organization; strong proficiency in Python, C++ or similar languages
• You possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field

• Knowledge of data engineering, and its tooling and best practices
• Knowledge of batch and streaming data processing, warehousing, and analytics solutions
• Experience with system & framework design
• Experience with data workflow orchestration platforms

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $202,350 and $303,050/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
