Technical Accountant

About the Role

The A&H Technical Accounting (TA) unit is looking for an ambitious individual who will make an immediate impact in Swiss Re's employer stop loss segment. We are not looking for your typical accountant but an individual who understands that every member of the A&H team can have a positive impact on sales by how you treat our producers and end customers. Your ability to seamlessly transition from performing accounting tasks to working in tandem with the company sales force, outside producers or the end customer to get issues resolved is critical to our overall success. This position is responsible for a number of different tasks with a primary focus on the month end close and most importantly paying our producers accurately and on a timely basis. You will perform quality control and forensic reviews to understand, resolve and implement procedural changes when problems are encountered. Many of the tasks the unit performs are manual, thus we are looking for someone who can bring a different point of view and new ideas to the team.

About the Team

Position Job Functions:• Reconcile monthly cash receipts to the bordereau and bank statements• Develop monthly reports allocating premium received and claims paid. • Pay all commissions and service fees and distribute back up statements to the appropriate parties • Forensic Accounting - investigate and resolve transactions reported incorrectly in the bordereau by working with the various co-workers (i.e. Contracts team, IT, and/or the Claims team) to get these transactions applied correctly. • Captive Reporting - overall responsibility for preparing/reviewing captive program reporting and responding to customer information requests.• Service Fee Maintenance - perform calculations as outlined in producer service fee agreements ensuring compliance with contractual requirements needed to continue payment. • Quality Control Reviews - you will be reviewing cases input by other TA members to ensure that they have been input correctly. Researching, communicating, correcting transactions previously input and developing solutions for improving processes are critical to TA's success.• Review of Sales Reports - Review of monthly paid and projected sales reports developed by our Sales team and used in monthly management meetings• Client Requests - Respond to various internal and external requests for information

About You

Position Skill Set:• Accounting Degree with a year of work experience preferred• Ability to recognize a problem, develop and implement a solution and update processes to minimize future occurrences• Ability to multitask and prioritize competing customer requests • Customer Service focused with the ability to interact with customers to resolve questions quickly and satisfactorily
