ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Technical Accounting Manager will play a key role in the technical accounting, monthly close, internal financial reporting, and SOX compliance functions. The person in this position will drive reporting and technical excellence while supporting the development of practical business processes and solutions. The Technical Accounting Manager will have the opportunity to impact many areas of the accounting function and work with a dynamic and growing team.
OPPORTUNITIES YOU WILL HAVE IN THIS ROLE
- Responsible for researching, resolving and documenting technical accounting issues as they arise
- Responsible for preparing quarterly technical accounting monitoring memos
- Support the finance team by identifying new accounting transactions that require special consideration, new internal controls, and/or help to ensure they are recorded properly
- Serve as a key contact with external consultants on complex accounting issues, as applicable, and drive the completion of the project
- Prepare or review certain journal entries and account reconciliations for areas of functional responsibility
- Prepare monthly internal financial statement package, including the statement of cash flows in accordance with US GAAP
- Provide SEC reporting support, as needed
- Responsible for partnering with the Tax Manager to ensure the preparation of the income tax provision is properly completed in line with SOX requirements and recorded and disclosed in line with US GAAP
- Maintain and enhance the internal controls over accounting processes and systems in compliance with SOX regulations
- Maintain a current and appropriate risk and controls matrix
- Oversee and complete SOC 1 Report reviews for key third party service providers
- Assist the accounting team in documenting business processes for technical accounting tasks
- Participate in implementing process changes and establish best practices
- Serve as a key contact with the external auditors, including management of selected audit and quarterly review deliverables
- Develop and maintain working relationships across departments as required by your position
- Play an oversight role in the annual 401(k) Plan audit, and prepare the Plan's annual financial statements
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and management inquiries
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO OUR GREAT TEAM
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- At least 5-6 years of experience with at least 4 years of public accounting experience
- Strong understanding of typical financial statement line items and financial metrics/ratios
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Strong analytical skills, creative problem-solving, and ability to summarize conclusions succinctly
- Flexibility and comfort with continuous change, willingness to take on challenges, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple duties and work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of dedication to improvement and strong sense of ownership
- High standards of customer service to contacts both within and outside the company
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar global ERP system, preferred
