Technical Accounting Manager

Location: This role is remote and open to candidates nationwide in the United States.

AbacusNext is an industry-leading vertical SaaS provider for the compliance-focused Professional Services market. We provide purpose-built, cloud-based solutions for small and medium-sized Legal and Accounting firms to support a secure and cloud-enabled practice.

Requirements

• Perform stand-alone 606 assessments on significant and unique contracts
• Establish a partnership with the business units to provide support, guidance and ensure that proper technical guidance is followed during the contract negotiation process
• Perform relative selling price analysis for multiple element arrangements, coordinating with multiple departments in the organization to analyze pricing for product/service offerings
• Perform stock-based compensation analysis and calculation
• Research and document accounting positions for complex transactions, including assisting with evaluating the accounting consequences of potential transactions and providing input and suggestions to planned and proposed agreements
• Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards such as ASC 842 and monitor and update polices as necessary for all accounting standards such as ASC 606 and ASC 718
• Follow emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Company's results and financial position
• Monitor month-end close for proper accounting treatment and assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and develop procedures to detect misstatements
• Manage the annual audits (US & UK STAT) with the external auditors, including being their main point of contact and preparing for audits throughout the year
• Prepare financial statements for annual audits (US & UK)
• Create policies, procedures and technical white papers to ensure proper accounting treatment according to GAAP and update the as necessary with the latest literature
• Perform periodic review of goodwill and intangible impairment
• Monitor and reconcile intercompany balances, including performing impairment tests
• Heavy involvement and contribution to systems implementation including an ERP system and a new billing system
• Handle and assist with financial reporting to third parties including banks & investors
• Monitor internal controls and update both internal controls and memos as needed
• Assist with any M&A, including performing purchase price allocations
• Prepare transfer pricing assessment and journal entries

Qualifications Include

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA
• 6+ years of public accounting experience (including SEC clients) with a large audit firm
• Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, FASB codification and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research and preparation of technical white papers
• Advanced Excel skills
• Detail orientated while also having the ability to take a step back and have an enterprise level view
• A forward looking vision to help the company move forward with initiatives and guide the team through continuous improvements
• Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide business explanations for balance flux, trends etc.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills, detail orientated with a high level of ethics and integrity
• Experience in software and/or subscription business is a plus
