Applied Materials' Corporate Controller's team is looking for an experienced professional for the position of Technical Accounting Manager. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will have broad responsibility across the Corporate Controller's organization. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert-level accounting consultations and formalize a variety of technical accounting positions across the Company. Other responsibilities include assisting in a variety of close related activities.

Our ideal candidate is a top performer who can manage multiple projects on a real-time basis, and has demonstrated the ability to identify and resolve operational challenges. Experience working across functions a plus and strong business partner relationship skills required. This role provides excellent exposure to understand our company's business models, finance, and accounting processes.

We are looking for a self-motivated, and hands-on individual to join our Controllers organization. An ideal candidate excels in technical research, verbal and written communications, is a problem solver with the ability to translate complex accounting matters.

Key Responsibilities

β€’ Proactively identify, independently research and evaluate the accounting treatment for ad-hoc significant accounting transactions, research and implement relevant accounting standards.,

β€’ Prepare clear, concise and timely technical accounting memorandums on significate complex transactions to support accounting positions.

β€’ Lead the planning, coordination and execution of technical projects to support the business and functions.

β€’ Review contracts to identify technical accounting matters and ensure compliance with corporate and accounting policies.

β€’ Assist with the preparation and review of accounting and disclosures.

β€’ Work cross-functionally within the organization to support various stakeholders on technical accounting matters.

β€’ Assess the impact of new and proposed accounting pronouncements and standards to ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting requirements.

β€’ Manage external service providers/liaison with external consultants, such as financial and accounting professionals

β€’ Collaborate with Business Units and Corporate Accounting to understand all aspects of non routine accounting transactions

β€’ Partner with the M&A team to support accounting conclusions for various equity investments.

β€’ Support annual goodwill and intangible impairment assessment

Job Specific Knowledge

β€’ Technical accounting related experience

β€’ Experience auditing and/or working in the high-tech industry

β€’ Experience in partner across an organization

β€’ Ability to clearly and concisely document accounting positions.

Education & Qualifications

β€’ Minimum: BS in Accounting with 5+years of relevant experience.

β€’ Required: active CPA certification

β€’ 5+ years technical accounting experience

β€’ Strong US GAAP and relevant technical accounting knowledge (e.g., revenue recognition, inventory reserves, investments, equity, financial reporting)

β€’ Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability

β€’ Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills

β€’ Proven track record of working with cross-functional business leaders to achieve challenging objectives

β€’ Ability to quickly establish rapport and gain the trust of project stakeholders

β€’ Ability to act as advisor to a variety of business partners

β€’ Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations and take the necessary steps to validate assumptions

β€’ Excels at working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues

U.S. Salary Range:

$120,000.00 - $165,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
