Technical Accounting Project Manager
*We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office)**
Job Summary
Provide accounting related support for corporate development and complex business transactions. Work with Accounting and Finance teams to onboard new transactions and initiatives, providing business partner support and technical guidance.
Essential Functions

Perform research and prepare documentation for complex business transactions and provide the appropriate accounting guidance

Evaluate and assist in the implementation of new or revised rules of the FASB, AICPA, SEC and other agencies

Integrate newly promulgated accounting standards into accounting policies and processes.

Assist in the preparation of response letters and working groups associated with FASB and SEC exposure drafts that impact NiSource or the public utility industry

Prepare corporate accounting policies and procedures

Prepare technical accounting memos that address complex accounting issues, non-recurring transactions, new accounting guidance, etc.

Design workflows to assist in the compliance with GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements

Keep current with emerging accounting and reporting guidance and trends including FASB standards and interpretations, and SEC releases and speeches. Review summaries that include the potential impacts to the Company Present findings to affected business partners

Identify and understand emerging business issues affecting the company and energy industry and provide accounting recommendations to address the issues.

Consult in the economic analysis of business opportunities and proposals

Interface with external auditors and accounting support related to complex accounting issues
Required Qualifications For Position

Bachelor's Degree Finance or related discipline
-
A minimum of 4 years progressive experience working in Finance, Accounting or other related business field, and willingness to manage and lead all facets of Financial Planning

Demonstrated strong verbal communication and presentation capabilities

Ability to build strategic relationships and gain commitment to influence holistic strategic direction

Ability to frame and investigate ambiguous questions

High intellectual curiosity

Collaborates to drive action

Microsoft Office Suite

Financial systems experience
-
Demonstrated financial technical knowledge of interdependencies between business drivers and resulting impact to the financial statements
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

Master's Degree MBA
-
1-3 years Previous leadership experience
-
1-3 years Experience and knowledge in Regulatory environment

1-3 years Strategy/Consulting or Project Management experience
-
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire

Salary Range:
$125,800.00 - $188,600.00
