Our colleagues within Baxter's R&D organization are driven to work on products that make a meaningful difference in others' lives. Nested under the Usability team, the Technical Communication team works closely with the UI/UX Design and Human Factors teams to develop user manuals and other user-facing materials to create meaningful user experiences for our customers.

Your Team

You'll be joining a dynamic team of creative and spirited Technical Communicators from different walks of life. They are a highly collaborative group that prioritizes generating high-quality results for their internal and external customers. The team's shared expertise is the product of their individual personalities and skill sets. What you'll be doing

• Research, organize, develop, and maintain technical communication materials for Baxter products based upon internal and/or external client needs. These technical materials include, but are not limited to, operator's manuals, installation, and maintenance manuals, and quick reference guides.
• Produce accurate materials compliant with the standards established by Baxter, the Tech Comm department, and regulatory bodies.
• Assist project teams with issues surrounding user acceptability/ease of use by attending usability studies, working directly with design teams, etc.
• Organize and design layout of technical information.
• Assist with the development of documentation plans, adhere to schedules, and meet project deadlines.
• Work with external vendors to produce finished products in accordance with provided specifications.
• Process materials through a documentation management system
• Understand the 'big picture' and support critical project timelines.

What you'll bring

• BS/BA in Technical Communications or a related field.
• 1-3+ years' experience in technical communication.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate approach.
• Ability to work both independently and on a team.
• Ability to handle a broad range of tasks with multiple priorities.
• Ability to extract information from interviews, technical documents, test data, and hands-on work with a device, and craft it for maximum usability by the intended audience.
• Demonstrated writing competency.
• Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Creative Suite in a PC environment.
• Understanding of production design, printing, photography, and illustrations as applicable to technical communication.
• Self-motivated, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical devices, mechanics/electronics, and/or medical software.

Preferred

• Technical writing experience in medical product related documentation.
• 1-5+ years' experience with regulating bodies (FDA, UL, TUV) or the medical industry.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $52,800 to $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
