Technical Community Program Director

Introduction
You will bring your technical community management expertise and enthusiasm to the highly motivated AI Alliance workgroup devoted to all aspects of community building and engagement. The goals are to build a community around open innovation and application of AI to spread knowledge about all aspects of AI and to educate people on how to build safe AI-enabled applications. You will occasionally collaborate with other workgroups in different focus areas to spread knowledge about their work. You will also take on the role of IBM’s co-chair for the Alliance’s Community workgroup.

Applicants should have strong prior experience with all aspects of building a technical community including developing a community-engagement strategy around technical topics organizing conferences meetups and other events and networking with industry people to participate in events.

The ability to lead and to collaborate effectively with a diverse group people and organizations in a rapidly evolving AI ecosystem is required.

Your Role and Responsibilities

What you will do. Specific responsibilities include:

• Lead’s IBM’s participation in the AI Alliance Community workgroup.
• Work with other members of the Alliance’s Community workgroup and Alliance leadership to strategize and plan community building. This plan will include defining OKRs and deliverables then tracking progress towards them.
• Guide the workgroup in cataloging public events of potential interest and prioritize the most important ones for Alliance engagement.
• Lead planning organizing and managing the IBM and Alliance engagements in the target events.
• Collaborate with other Alliance workgroups to help build and promote the community.
• Discover and catalyze engagement by key individuals in the community who can contribute to the AI Alliance mission.
• Work with minimal supervision solo or collaboratively as required to deliver high-quality work in an efficient manner.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• BS/BA degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in developer advocacy and technical community building activities and roles including
  • Building technical community strategies.
  • Event planning and organizing.
  • Possibly including DevRel (developer relations) roles.
  • Widely recognized as a technical community builder.
• 2+ years in Artificial Intelligence research or engineering or software development roles.
• Demonstrated ability to self-organize prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced changing and agile development environment to meet deadlines.
• Effective written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience in AI technology and AI application development.
• Experience building and enabling AI communities.
