This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Technical Consultant - Migration and Modernization DNS Services / Applications in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a complex infrastructure transformation program focused on modernizing critical enterprise services, including DNS, DHCP, and application platforms. The consultant will play a key role in designing, analyzing, and supporting large-scale migration initiatives that replace legacy systems with modern, scalable solutions. Operating in a highly technical and collaborative environment, the position involves deep engagement with network, infrastructure, and application teams, as well as external vendors. The scope includes migration of in-house DNS services, Solaris decommissioning, and transition of legacy systems such as BMC Remedy to modern platforms. This is a hands-on expert role requiring strong architectural thinking, scripting expertise, and infrastructure modernization experience. The consultant will act as a technical reference point for complex design decisions and integration challenges across multiple systems.
Accountabilities
The consultant is responsible for leading the technical analysis, design, and execution support for major infrastructure migration initiatives, ensuring system stability, data integrity, and seamless transition across environments. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and execution of DNS and DHCP migration strategies from in-house systems to third-party platforms, ensuring minimal disruption and strong data validation processes
- Supporting the modernization of Windows DNS environments and integration into new DDI architectures, with attention to security, performance, and reliability
- Driving Solaris server decommissioning initiatives, including migration to Linux environments and evaluation/retirement of legacy Perl scripts
- Managing and supporting the transition of BMC Remedy ARS-based applications to BMC Helix, including data transformation and migration planning
- Collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders to define architecture, integration approaches, and migration sequencing strategies
- Producing detailed technical documentation including network diagrams, migration plans, process maps, and system architecture artifacts
- Ensuring knowledge transfer and operational readiness through training materials, workshops, and structured handover documentation
- 5+ years of experience designing and deploying complex IT services in enterprise environments
- Extensive hands-on experience with DNS and DHCP server design, implementation, and migration (including Infoblox or similar platforms)
- Strong background in Windows DNS architecture and integration with broader network services
- Proven experience in Solaris server environments, including decommissioning and migration to Linux systems
- Advanced scripting expertise, including 10+ years in Perl and strong experience with JavaScript and REST APIs
- Experience migrating legacy systems, including BMC Remedy ARS applications to BMC Helix
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure components, data structures, and service dependencies
- Experience working with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow and CAS is considered an asset
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and architectural design skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and align diverse stakeholders
- Fully remote work with occasional on-site requirements in Victoria
