Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Technical Content Professional you will create develop curate and analyze technical content for digital self-service products. This includes technical documentation UX content embedded assistance training blogging and support content delivered in various online and print formats. You will advocate for users during the engineering and design processes ensuring content is easy to find useful and current. Technical Content Professionals may specialize in UX content product documentation UI writing embedded assistance technical writing multimedia production visual design instructional design and digital learning.
Your primary responsibilities include:

• Content Creation: Experience in designing developing and publishing IBM technical content that is easy to use understand and find. This includes technical documentation written in DITA or Markdown UI content product tours messages API documentation multimedia (videos graphics) support content chatbots training nurture and community content.
• Content Management: Proficiency in managing the end-to-end authoring process including design development editing production translation and life cycle management.
• Research: Strong research skills to gather data analyze it and extract insights for developing content strategies and meeting business needs through audience analysis product research and competitive analysis.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Concept Simplification: Simplify complex technical concepts from multiple sources into consumable content that drives user actions. Ensure the content is clear inclusive accessible and translated for a global audience.
• Writing: Technical writing experience. Excellent English skills. Able to create clear concise and relevant technical content that helps users to achieve their goals. Apply design thinking principles to design content based on user scenarios personas and use cases.
• Embedded Assistance: Write embedded user assistance to guide users within the interface providing helpful and context-specific information. Structure and sense from a pile of notes discussions and demos.
• Design: Apply design skills to create strategic and intelligent content that serves multiple purposes and enhances the user experience by taking a smart approach to content creation.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Design Thinking practices
• Familiarity with structural and markup languages (e.g. HTML DITA Markdown)
• Familiarity with authoring tools (e.g. Oxygen Adobe Illustrator DCS Acrolinx) development tools (e.g. GitHub RTC Jenkins Atom)
• Familiarity with programming languages [e.g. Java Node JavaScript COBOL] Cloud and integration technologies
• Familiarity with IBM Digital Content Services (DCS) and using IBM Doc Manager and Workflow Manager (WFM) for content publishing
