Technical Continuous Improvement Expert IV - (E4)
Job Description
Applied Materials is seeking a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing continuous improvement projects & programs across a globally matrixed and cross-functional business environment. We are looking for a hands-on expert with strong technical competencies in continuous improvement, statistical toolset, DMAIC, and Lean.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Continuous Improvement methods to achieve breakthrough improvements in performance metrics in in manufacturing and transactional business areas.
- Understand data trends and drive quantified results by designing and deploying analytical systems and processes.
- Drive optimization of the Value Stream by elimination of waste and making flow improvements across or within manufacturing, field service and logistics operations.
- Facilitate groups through process mapping, root cause analysis, brainstorming and project planning.
- Lead Kaizen Events and LSS Black Belt level projects within and across operations to optimize performance.
- Coach and oversee successful completion of process improvement projects using LSS methodology.
- Train, mentor and coach Champions and Green Belts in the use of Six Sigma tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects with expected client results.
- Employ project management skills related to overall project tracking, deliverables management, action item tracking, meeting minutes, team communications, and presentations. Keep stakeholders apprised of project status and defined deliverables.
- Change agent responsible to drive Continuous Improvement projects in complex cross-functional environment.
- Comply with all IP guidelines, safety procedures and consistently demonstrates safety as a core value.
Functional Knowledge
- Direct experience with demonstrated success and financial results leading Lean and Six Sigma projects in an operations or service environment.
- Deep understanding of problem solving methodologies including DMAIC, DFSS and Lean tools.
- Technical expertise of Six Sigma tools like Minitab, JMP, or other statiscatal packages
- Effective change agent and be adept in implementing change management principles across their projects
- Effective project management skills and ability to influence senior management.
- Functional understanding of core Logistics and Supply Chain functions.
Business Expertise
- Utilize benchmarking to identify best practices, both internal and external to the organization.
- Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Semiconductor industry experience preferred.
- Logistics & Supply Chain experience preferred.
Leadership
- Ability to lead and influence others within a matrix organization.
- Lead strategic projects while managing risk and resource requirements.
- Ability to effectively coach and mentor Process Owners, Champions and Green Belts.
- Resolves obstacles/roadblocks, serves as a sounding board for problem resolution.
Impact
- Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies.
Interpersonal Skills
- Explains difficult or sensitive information in an easy-to-understand manner; works to build consensus.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required (Engineering/ Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Logistics)
- Master's Degree preferred
Additional Qualifications
- Black Belt certification required

- 7+ Years professional experience required
- 3+ Years of Continuous Improvement experience required
- 3+ Years' experience in a related Logistics field required
