Technical Data Steward

Role Overview:

McAfee is looking for an experienced Technical Data Steward to join our Enterprise Analytics team and play a central role in advancing our enterprise data management strategy. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional with a talent for transforming business needs into precise technical requirements. As a Technical Data Steward, you will be responsible for managing logical data models, overseeing metadata, and collaborating with our ingestion and curation teams to ensure data integrity and governance.
This role requires a deep understanding of:
- Logical data modeling
- Complex metadata management
- Developing, managing, and aligning technical data requirements
- Data curation
- Data governance
This is a remote position based in Canada. We will only consider candidates in Canada and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role: 

• Collaborate with business leaders to define requirements and priorities and to proactively understand and update metric logic and definition. 
• Develop technical requirements (e.g., aggregation level, granularity) based on metrics established by business teams. 
• Design logical data model and orchestration requirements. 
• Own and manage logical data model for the Enterprise Analytics team in tandem with ingestion and curation leads. 
• Oversee data catalog entries and enforce data cataloging rules. 
• Manage access controls for end data products. 
• Manage change requests to the structure, definitions and/or security of identified data objects. 
• Communicate with the Business Data System Owner and Business Data Steward on metric updates.
• Act as escalation point for Data Quality Analysts when defined processes are insufficient to resolve issues.

About you:  

• Bring 3+ years of experience in data engineering or data analysis 
• Have hands-on experience with and understanding of the following: SQL; Python or other programming language; Databricks or other cloud data management platform; technical and business data cataloging; logical data modeling, including experience designing logical data models; ETL/ELT tools such as Apache Airflow; and data dictionary development.
• Bring proven experience in data management, requirements management, and metadata management.
