Technical Design Manager

OVERVIEW:

Ten Thousand is seeking an outstanding Technical Design Manager to lead our technical design function. Working closely with our product team, you will drive the successful technical creation of new Ten Thousand products from concept through PP samples.  You will also ensure that we have best in class fit and technical execution across existing styles. We consider fit and construction to be key brand differentiators, making this an important role within the organization.

The candidate must have experience in technical design and pattern making experience is a significant plus.  We are looking for a teammate with an enthusiastic attitude for tackling projects and pushing the limits of what is possible.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead all aspects of technical design, from fittings to grading to construction details to specing all samples
• Coordinate and lead all fits, with contribution from cross functional product team
• Ensure technical execution of all Ten Thousand styles, from concept to PP samples.
• Establish brand standards or fit blocks by category
• Create or collaborate with external resources on patterns as necessary
• Provide guidance in regards to fit sample SOPs and ensure that we remain on calendar
• Maintain graded fit specs and detailed fit comments for all styles in Backbone PLM system
• Collaborate with site team and merchandising to ensure that all fit details are accurately reflected on site and provide clear fit information to customers 
• Keep a neatly organized sample archive
• Manage sourcing, scheduling and all other aspects of fit models

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4-6 years of apparel technical design.. Prior experience in activewear and/or technical outerwear strongly preferred. Prior DTC experience also preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of garment manufacturing, including construction, fit, fabrication, trim and print techniques. 
• Able to work independently within company and team guidelines
• Pattern making experience is appreciated
• Passion for premium, functional product and the desire to forge a path as a market leader in new product concepts.
• Ability to create new product concepts from scratch, with an emphasis on concepts and constructions that have never been created before
• Exceptional attention to product details.
• Strong communicator with the ability to find ways for our vendor partners to clearly understand direction
• Deep understanding of woven and knit garment design and construction.
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think strategically when things don’t go as planned.
• Extremely organized and timeline focused
• Must be able to work at our NYC HQ
