Technical Designer - 2626550

We're an award-winning IT solutions provider to the Federal government, seeking a Technical Designer to work across corporate teams responsible for developing, refining, and illustrating solutions and capabilities, in the pursuit of winning new work. The Technical Designer will balance multiple projects and collaborate with technical solution teams to create technical views representing IT systems, processes, and solutions; edit visual elements of technical presentations to ensure they are accurate and engaging, and create/edit images and illustrations that promote TCG's technical acumen and innovative solutions.

The right candidate for this role will be an expert in communicating complex, technical ideas clearly and concisely through images and visual elements. They will create change and adapt visual styles for different subjects, media types, and audiences. TCG is a highly collaborative environment, and the ability to communicate with different stakeholders, work with technical project teams, and provide and receive constructive feedback is essential.

US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status and the ability to obtain a Federal government clearance are required for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and design digital collateral with a wide range of media and design software including the Adobe suite, Visio,
• Interact and collaborate with subject matter experts in information technology to understand the foundational components of solutions, and translate those concepts into visual products
• Participate in all aspects of the technical solution development lifecycle, from concept to final delivery
• Deliver bold, refreshing technical designs (i.e. technical roadmaps, architecture diagrams, etc.) for use across a variety of media, including proposals, training materials, and white papers
• Design supporting graphics, build composites, prepare presentation diagrams, conduct technical research, and assist the team as directed
• Develop proposal graphics, including organizational charts, tables, graphs, and illustrations/diagrams that depict complex processes and technical architectures
• Manage and organize asset and image libraries, project files, templates, and other resources including using metadata to increase search visibility for graphics reuse
• Execute data visualization, technical illustration, and infographic projects to create strong messaging and visually appealing graphics
• Implement rounds of revisions with speed, quality, and accuracy
• Support preparation of presentations for executive management, proposals, and subject matter experts
• Prepare production files and proofing as required
• Be a problem solver in a fast-paced work environment and actively articulate creative ideas and strategies with the team
• Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule
• Stay current with industry trends relevant to TCG's capabilities, and maintain knowledge and awareness of solutions developed by entities such as government, private industry, consortia, and SIG communities

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• At least 3 years of experience in illustrative design within technical contexts
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, PowerPoint, Visio, and Premiere; familiarity with producing simplified graphics within PowerPoint
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, and concept development
• Ability to lead discussions on best practices and recommendations of technical mock-ups and iterations throughout the development process
• Excellent eye for detail and can serve as a reviewer of technical artifacts
• Have solid command of foundational design principles, such as typography, color, layout, illustration, and information design
• Ability to prioritize/manage multiple complex projects in a dynamic growth environment
• Ability to work in a remote work environment
• Excellent communicator and facilitator, able to collaborate closely with subject matter experts, proposal teams, and upper management on projects with tight deadlines

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience working directly within a design team.
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance best practices

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, illustrations, or a similar field with a BFA or BA from a design, visual arts, or similar program is preferred; four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
