Technical Designer - Video
Job Description
Position PurposeÂ
The Technical Designer (Entertainment Video Designer) is responsible for researching, specifying, designing, integrating, and commissioning entertainment video systems for a wide variety of entertainment venues, live show venues, complex theme park attractions, cruise ships, museums, and events.Â
Essential Responsibilities
- Design, program and integrate various scales of entertainment systems with and emphasis on video systems designed to meet specific needs of venue, show, or installation
- Extremely proficient in LED video display and projection technology knowledge
- Highly proficient in all elements of video distribution and video signal management practices, inclusive of installation, commissioning, programming and after-sales support
- Develop design drawings and build documentation which thoroughly details all aspects of the intended designsÂ
- Ability to work on technical design elements from early concepts with venue design teams through commissioning with sub vendors and project teams
- Assemble quotes & bid packages detailing equipment, cost, and labor estimates on multi-million-dollar projects
- Provide input and documentation for quotes & bid packages detailing equipment, cost, labor estimates, pre- installation requirements, and site survey results per client requirements
- Execute designs within company requirements and client performance specificationsÂ
- Identify suppliers and vendors appropriate to the project and maintain those relationships
- Work with procurement staff and fabrication staff to provide direction as needed during the fabrication process
- Oversee integration partners and communicate status to project management and leadership teams
- Develop/Perform commissioning and/or programming of all systems, inclusive of directing integration vendor support
- Highly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- Ability ork on-site, remotely for installation, commissioning, design/programming and support phases
- Knowledge of general construction means and methods, compliance with industry recognized standards, performance specifications, and local codes in the design and engineering fields
- Must be able to work alongside staff Technical Designers, Engineers, and Technicians to deliver a cohesive design package through blue-sky, request for proposals, design, build, delivery and sustainment

Management Responsibility
This role does not have any direct reports within the organization. Projects will on occasion require the management of project scope, contractors, vendors and manufacturers to ensure a successful outcome.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following – Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, Construction Management, Liberal Arts – Theater Design/Technology
- 4 years experience (or 2 years experience with a graduate degree) as a Video Design
- Experience in “large project” themed entertainment design and/or management is highly desirable.
- Preferred 4 years experience of major entertainment development experience; major theme park/themed entertainment/cruise ship development/theater production experience Working Conditions and Physical Effort

- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift or move equipment within material handling guideline
- Must be able to carry equipment within material handling guidelines
Work conditions of the role are:
- Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
- Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
