Job Description

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. has an outstanding Technical Editor Internship opportunity for a full-time student who is currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree program and wants to gain related work experience in the field of technical writing/editing and supporting a United States government program. The qualified intern will support an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers developing and revising the nation's historical and authoritative source on high energy weapons effects to support national security and warfighter needs. In this role, you will covert and typeset documents that currently exist as Adobe Acrobat PDF files and into more manageable and editable files such as Microsoft Word and Jupyter Notebooks. You will have the opportunity to use and learn tools such as LaTex, PlotLy, and Pandas, among others, to represent and store data. Due to the nature of this work, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance by the start of the internship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic and extremely detailed oriented
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Must be a currently enrolled, full-time student in a Bachelor's Degree program or above in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Business, or related field at an accredited university
