Technical Fellow - SDA Chief Architect
Chief Architect for Space Domain Awareness (SDA). This leadership position will be the technical authority for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio. Working in concert with the Business Development lead, this role will pursue new business opportunities that consist of a wide variety of space-based hardware/software and ground solutions and cutting-edge architectures for Government and prime contractor customers within the US Government and commercial marketplace. This position will be supporting business development activities across the TCPED capability space and program lifecycle. The role will require deep technical background in SDA with strong connections throughout the user community. Representation at conferences and presentation of technical papers as well as leading teams of people to support these activities is expected. Further, excellent communication across other company portfolios is necessary to ensure common and consistent architectures are developed.
What You'll Do:

• Provide technical leadership for the SDA portfolio across multiple and diverse business pursuits.
• Provide systems engineering leadership of technical teams to define architectures for complex systems including spacecraft, instruments, ground, and missions.
• Objectively define, execute, and report on trade studies that provide data for decision making to our customers.
• Leverage Model Based Systems Engineering.
• Develop and apply metrics to evaluate concepts that represent mission utility for the customer.
• Creatively apply our heritage and expertise to solve customer problems in novel and cost-effective ways.
• Mentor other engineers in mission systems engineering and architecture development.
• Prepare and give presentations and technical papers for peers, executive management, and industry communities, and support team members in this area as well
• Manage technical roadmap and identify IRAD activities annually to ensure progression of SDA technologies
• Support technical proposals and provide thought leadership as a mission architect
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 20 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• MS in Physics/Engineering Systems or a related technical field is preferred.
• A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
• Solid background in current Space Domain Awareness and Space Traffic Management systems, capabilities, and overall marketplace, including government and commercial priorities.
• Solid background in classified aerospace sensing systems with emphasis on experience across functionality of complete Collection Segment (space, ground, spacecraft, payload, BMC3) and TCPED capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing mission concepts, including space, launch, and ground components.
• Demonstrated experience in all phases of hardware program execution, including early planning, design reviews, manufacture, assembly, integration, test, sell-off, and on-orbit mission operation.
• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
• Superb presentation skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

• HIRING SALARY RANGE: $175,500 - $243,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
