Technical Intern 1

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a part time intern for September-November 2023 to be part of a unique marine oil spill and marine renewable energy research, testing, and training facility at Ohmsett - The National Oil Spill Response Research & Renewable Energy Test Facility located in Leonardo, New Jersey. Join our team of passionate, dedicated, and dynamic experts at the largest outdoor saltwater wave/tow tank facility in North America.

ARA's Ohmsett Team is committed to:

• Operating and maintaining a US government state-of-the-art facility

We are looking for a well-qualified candidate who has training in an engineering discipline and is interested in working in a research and testing environment. You will work with other members of the Ohmsett team on a variety of tasks, but you will have project of your own during a mutually agreed upon timeframe.

A knowledge or aptitude related to chemistry, mechanical, civil, or ocean engineering, and/or field testing is needed for this position. Successful applicants need good communication and interpersonal skills and should have the demonstrated ability to solve problems.

Position Requirements:

• Coursework or experience in one or more of the following research / engineering areas: Ocean Engineering, Marine Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry
• Experience working in an environment that requires ingenuity and creative problem solving
• An ability to work effectively independently or in a team environment
• Local to Leonardo, New Jersey
