As a Principal Software Engineer focused on automation testing, you will be responsible for leading and executing the testing strategy for our leading Engage alert and alarm delivery engine in the Stryker clinical communication suite. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, regulatory assurance, product management, and healthcare experts, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, word-class software solutions. You will be a key technical leader, providing expertise in automation testing best practices, tools, and technologies. What you will do:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the automation testing strategy, including planning, architecture, design, implementation, execution, and reporting of test cases and results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and develop comprehensive and effective automation test plans and scripts.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members in automation testing best practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Collaborate with software development and quality assurance teams to identify and resolve defects and issues in a timely manner.
  • Drive the adoption of automation testing best practices, tools, and technologies to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on code quality, testability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with product management and healthcare experts to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance in the healthcare industry.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in automation testing, healthcare technologies, and industry best practices, and apply them to our products as appropriate.
  • Generate and review requirements, design, architecture, bugs and test documentation with project teams.
  • Divisional expert with extensive experience applying industry standards in software as medical device.
  • Lead the development of standards and regulations, working closely with functions within and across business.
  • Lead and support team members to create or improve procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology requirements.
  • Hold team accountable to deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities.
  • Develop and influence invention disclosures, patents or trade secrets.

What You need

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on automation testing.

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

  • Proven ability to apply software design concepts, patterns and SOLID principles to test automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools such as code coverage and static analysis to make data driven decisions.
  • Experience creating wholistic test plans using testing at multiple levels for complex systems.
  • Strong expertise in automation testing frameworks and tools, such as Selenium, Cucumber, and JUnit.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, with a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices, such as HIPAA, HL7 and FHIR.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, including continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps principles.
  • Experience with using and adjusting agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban and SAFe to fit quality needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Experience with applying regulatory and compliance standards.
