Become a Technical Leader for Catalogs team for Bloomreach! The work you do will impact many customers in dozens of different verticals in the e-commerce space. We work remotely first, but we are more than happy to meet you in our nice office in Bratislava or Brno. Problem domain you will work with:

Our Catalogs allow our users to store a large amount of data about their products. Users then can use the product data in marketing campaigns and web layers. The data model and the solution design are very flexible allowing storing data in various formats, which brings benefits for our customers. Catalogs are essential for our clients to utilize our platform to the fullest, as what we do allows them to reuse their valuable product data in our platform.

Your job will be to:
  • You will help us to design the solution for upcoming initiatives, develop the most critical parts, assure high throughput and scalability, and observe code quality. 
  • Our Catalogs are using Elasticsearch and BigTable and we are using Apache Kafka to sanitize, transform, and clean ingested data into permanent storage. 
  • Hence we follow ETL and ELT patterns to make sure the ingestion pipeline is a set of re-usable asynchronous workers split into several stages, your job here is to use (and elevate) those technologies and principles at their best
  • Our services run in Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes and you will help to keep our services up and running by participating in on-call rotation 🚀 as we feel responsible for our code stability in production 
  • Data volumes are crazy high, and your job is also to improve the throughput and reliability of data ingests to cope with increasing data volumes. Imports to catalogs peak at 30k ops/s., and in terms of indices, we can store hundreds of thousands of rows in one catalog and we have thousands of catalogs. In regards to reads, we serve at peaks 130k rows/s. 
  • You will have regular dialogue with product function to direct the future product roadmap
  • You help the team to understand solution design for new initiatives and refine epics to tasks 
  • By having a chance to influence the solution design, you help to build reusable principles about how new/custom data connectors are built to allow us quickly prototype solutions for prospective customers and close new deals
  • We work with technical debt, we refactor, and we are not afraid to take risks
  • You will review the code of your peers and they'll review yours. 
  • You participate in interviews and technical growth for engineers in the Catalogs team
You have the following experience and qualities:
  • You have production experience with data ingestion using ETL and ELT
  • You worked extensively with any of the following message brokers, Apache Kafka, Google pub-sub, or Rabbit MQ
  • You have experience with Python and a solid grasp of engineering practices 🔧.
  • You can produce solution design artifacts like Component/Sequence/Flow diagrams
  • You understand what it means to run and operate our own service in production, and you have proven experience with application telemetry, monitoring, and alerting 
  • You have knowledge of various database systems, you understand the difference between SQL and non-SQL storages and when to use what
  • You were a technical lead and you led a team of engineers 
  • An experience with Go, that's a big advantage 💪.
  • You are able to learn and adapt. It'll be handy while exploring new tech, navigating our not-so-small code base, or when iterating on our team processes.

  • Restricted Stock Units or Stock Options are granted depending on a team member’s role, seniority, and location.*
