This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.
Your Responsibilities
As the Technical Leader of the Electronics Analysis Laboratory for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group-Electronic Systems, which designs and manufactures the electronics hardware that makes John Deere equipment smarter,you'll oversee operations of the electronics analysis laboratory based in Fargo, North Dakota. The laboratory does all manner of electronics analysis for John Deere locations worldwide, including failure analysis, reliability testing, and electronics materials testing. You'll also put your analytical and instrumentation expertise to work supporting ISG's Advanced Engineering reliability and development projects.
In addition, you will:

• Be the instrumentation expert. You will ensure that the lab and its equipment are always maintained and fully operational. The Electronics Analysis Lab in Fargo receives analysis requests from anywhere in John Deere. These requests can range from routine to unusual, so the lab must always be at the ready.
• Be a communications expert. Not only will you interpret scientific analysis results, but also clearly communicate them to stakeholders with varied backgrounds, including but not limited to, supply management, quality, and electronics engineers.
• Be passionate about teaching others what you know by sharing your expertise and instructing lab personnel on theory and operation of analytical lab equipment.

What Skills You Need

• Six or more years of demonstrated experience on five or more of the following: TGA, TMA, DSC, DMA, X-Ray, XRF, FTIR, SEM/EDS, Visible light Microscopy, Ion Chromatography.
• Six or more years of experience in chemistry, metallurgy, failure analysis of electronics, or similar fields.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to interpret data and self-direct accordingly.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience applying Materials, Chemistry, and/or Physics knowledge and principles
• Experience operating equipment in an electronics analysis laboratory environment including TGA, TMA, DSC, DMA, X-Ray, XRF, FTIR, SEM/EDS, visible light microscopy, and ion chromatography
• Awareness of laboratory standards, e.g. ISO/IEC 17025
• Ability to communicate complex data and analytical results clearly and concisely across different departments, skill levels, and levels of the organization
• Experience working with contract laboratories
• Electrical or mechanical systems knowledge
• Knowledge of analytical tools for failure analysis
• An interest working in the electronics industry

Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience
• Master's or PhD degree will be preferred.
