Job Description
The Technical Leader - Enterprise Data Management is responsible for promoting and implementing Rockwell Automation's (RA) strategies, solutions and capabilities associated with product data management and establish an enterprise data governance framework.
As a Tech Leader for Product Data Management, this person will partner with various stakeholders across the enterprise (business/functional leaders, enterprise architecture/data functions, commerce, and distribution channels) to plan, design, deploy, and execute solutions focusing on the lifecycle stages of product data and its syndication. Another value driven element of the role includes the support of growth via intelligent reporting on how master data quality impacts business operations. This role will lead and provide guidance to data analysts and other supporting roles, internal to RA and hired contractors with a hands-on approach aimed at actively coaching their team to solve complex problems and remove roadblocks.
As a Tech Leader for Data Governance, the person will also have responsibility for establishing data governance framework globally. The person will lead and manage all organization-wide data governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs. The person serves as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues and will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate regularly with business, technical, and external stakeholders on a broad array of product data projects and initiatives.
- Conduct discovery analysis of business and user requirements, including leading workshop(s) targeted at developing functional, technical, and architectural needs.
- Share responsibility with Product Owner(s) for building reusable and scalable components related to PDM.
- Play role in strategy, working with EA to introduce new technologies and processes.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for data architecture and data integration on topics related to PDM.
- Design and deliver data governance initiatives and process related to compliance and controllership around PDM with an eye on continuous process improvement.
- Build consensus and resolve conflicts related to assigned workflows and initiatives.
- Define and manage the structure of products with variants, taxonomy, and categories.
- Review, standardize and identify gaps in product information and processes.
- Manage the integration of PDM with other internal and external systems for improved processes and efficiencies.
- Work with other data stewards across the enterprise to ensure a clear understanding of business requirements that are managed in concert with PDM data.
- Oversee reporting related to product data management and coordinate actions to resolve issues.
- Identify and report opportunities to gain efficiencies, automate, and improve data quality related to PDM.
- Influence the use and adoption of the PDM related systems, governance, and data.
- Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities.
- Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's principal information assets.
- Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
- Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise.
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
- Lead Senior Management, comprising resources from the Business and Functional areas and IT business and operations functions, to achieve their objectives; resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas data governance representatives.
- In conjunction with the IT, provide progress reports to Board management and oversee periodic updates to the Department Data Governance Roadmap
- Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services.
- Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace / represent data as a strategic business asset at the Senior Management table.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Preferred Qualifications:
- This position typically requires 5+ years of management experience. Focus on Product Lifecycle management would be highly desired.
- Strong business acumen across HW, SW and SVCS business models.
- Hands-on experience in Product Data Management (PDM), related functionalities and policies.
- Data Governance understanding and knowledge.
- Implementation experience and the ability to recommend business solutions.
- Strong influencing, interpersonal and relationship management skills, with and ability to influence and build consensus with other IT teams and leadership.
- Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience managing the overall delivery through the aligned team of company staff and contractors.
- Experience in agile Development processes, including managing technical priorities within the backlog.
- Seen as an expert within the technical components of the domain of Product Data Management.
- Ability to distill information from disparate data sources and the capability to tell the story behind it, as well as recommendations for next steps.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements.
- Seek out and embrace relevant perspectives when assessing a situation or deciding and can demonstrate clear understanding of multiple viewpoints.
- Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team's potential.
- Strong coordination and negotiation skills to help keep the team focused and delivering. consistent value, especially with third-party partners for contract labor.
