Role Summary
Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions. As the technical lead in the Electrics and Electronics (E/E) discipline the Technical Manager is responsible to lead the engineering team activities relating to the design and development of the vehicle E/E system as well as mentor team members to strengthen team capability. This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams and Tier 2 suppliers
Key Responsibilities
  • Support and develop Technical Area (TA) core competencies
  • Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
  • Lead benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase
  • Propose and lead advanced development topics within the GTA
  • Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes
  • Lead design proposals with set based engineering principles
  • Lead designs with 6 Sigma design principles
  • Lead and support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
  • Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development
  • Confirm OEM and magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable
  • Confirm OEM and magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable
  • Be responsible for the release of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data into internal and external sites

Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must have a positive "can do" attitude
  • Must be flexible and able to course correct paths according to priority alignment
  • Education- BSEE, MSEE
  • Experience - 10+years Electric Vehicle (EV) development
  • Experience in ISO 26262 / ASIL Risk Class
  • Experience in Advanced Driver-assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Experience in Complete Vehicle development and manufacture
  • Experience supervising or managing technical personnel
  • Experience in launching a complete vehicle
  • Experience in design release and testing of components and assemblies

Additional Information
  • Be responsible for designs capable of meeting the serial production tact, First Time Quality (FTQ) and ergo targets
  • Be responsible for designs meeting the project performance and cost targets
  • Be responsible for designs meeting market region regulations, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, etc.
  • Confirm the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) comprehends all project targets and is complete
  • Confirm the project Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) comprehends all product risks and product usage cases
  • Manage project TA according to the agreed head count, budget, and outside service or support plan
  • Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
