As Technical Manager, Site Reliability Engineering for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to design and develop industry-leading commercial software and applications for the cloud, known for its innovation and usability. You will work as part of a development team to balance various aspects of a project, so that we can build, test, and deploy software rapidly, productively, and reliably.
You will play an active role in all the stages of the development lifecycle and support your team throughout the process. You will also help ensure that developed products and deployments meet requirements and are within total quality management standards. This position will require you to collaborate with multiple, global, cross-functional teams.

What you will do:
- Manage delivery of Team-Level Epics for the Production Operations Management DevSecOps Team's Site Reliability Engineers (SRE's).
- Develop the current strategy for observability and logging across multiple platforms, including Kubernetes, Azure, and AWS.
- Develop the current strategy for Incident Response.
- Identify measurements and develop metrics and OKRs for the hosting platform, and drive improvements.
- Liaise with Customer Support, and Application teams.
- Develop a follow-the-sun monitoring practice which includes application development teams, and fosters empathy.
- Champion adoption of new SRE practices across the enterprise.
- Develop the FinOps practices to realize savings and track individual application/service costs.
- Work with Product and Technical Managers to develop FinOps to customer and organization costs.
- Productize the SRE practice for internal customers adopting the hosting platform.
- Provide technical guidance and educate the Rockwell Automation community members in Site-Reliability Engineering.
- Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects.
- Document and design various processes; update and automate existing processes.
- Improve application and infrastructure development and deployment.
- Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company.
- Builds relationships and interacts with peers to ensure assigned tasks are prioritized appropriately.
- Actively seeks knowledge of new developments in the software engineering, computer engineering, security engineering, and software testing fields.
- Thinks outside the box and is willing to research and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a software product development environment, with a minimum of 2 yrs in a managerial role.
- Experience of developing and managing an SRE practice and Operations Center.
- Customer facing operations on Cloud, Mobile, and IIoT platforms.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, and BASH.
- Experience with cloud services like AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience of observability and logging solutions, including Azure Data Explorer, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Application Insights, and DataDog.
- Experience with software infrastructure management including Helm, FluxCD, and Terraform.
- Knowledge of software and deployment test methodologies and automated test tools.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and operations.
- Software development on both Windows and Linux.
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- This position can be performed from any US location
