What You'll Do
You'll be responsible for the implementation and operational support of several networking platforms, regional video systems, access networks and metro IP networks. Other responsibilities include:
  • Performing standard engineering duties, including:
    • System monitoring, issue identification and basic troubleshooting.
    • Equipment and integrated software design and configuration.
    • Equipment installation.
    • Equipment troubleshooting, including circuits and data connectors.
  • Engaging with clients to understand requirements, ease of use and application issues.
  • Learning and applying Cox Communications engineering policies and guidelines.
  • Working on special projects as assigned.

Who You Are
You're adaptable and communicative. As a continuous learner, you're always improving your technical and professional skills. You're customer focused with great planning and organizational skills. You also have the following qualifications:
Minimum:
  • 1 or more years of experience in a related field (i.e., Engineering, Technical Operations) or academic equivalent training or projects.
  • General knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • 1 or more years of experience with layer II and layer III protocols
  • Requires working knowledge of transmission, switching, powering, grounding, mechanical, and cabling
  • Familiarity in working with Nokia, Calix, Arrista and Cisco Network platforms, which includes IP, PON and services.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation as required.

Preferred:
  • A BS/BA degree in a related discipline.
  • Entry-level industry recognized certifications.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry, with 2-3 years of experience operating in a tiered-level technical service assurance and/or service implementation environment.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of various manufacturers' telecommunications and optical transport equipment.
  • Working knowledge of backbone and metro architectures and technologies.
  • Participation in SCTE and related certifications.
  • Automation knowledge (specifically Python and Ansible).
  • Familiarity with communications/network engineering concepts, practices and methodologies.
