As our customer base leverage key data from multiple sources, the quantity, demand and complexity of that data has accelerated. Finding new and optimal ways of providing this data empowers our customers to make better decisions and gain insights to drive their investment decisions.
To fully unlock the power of our data for our customers we are seeking a Technical Product Manager (TPM) who will guide the team through the ambiguity seen in the early stages of planning to increasingly produce more fidelity on the product roadmap (now, next, future) by defining outcomes, artifacts, estimates, and increasing overall confidence. The TPM will work with the business and product management to understand outcomes and produce an actionable backlog for engineering to get incrementally closer to those outcomes.
The TPM is a full member of one of our self-guided value stream-aligned pods. Someone that can bring delivery and team engagement value in addition to the standard facilitation and ceremony leadership expected of the role.
You will work closely with Product and Engineering to define and enhance our data platform. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience and skill in organizing and defining data solutions. We are looking for strong technical leaders to build a platform that powers analyses for our next phase of growth that have a customer-centric, business-focused mindset to the task at hand.
You will help grow our product development, set key strategic goals to improve all areas of delivery, ensure auditability, and establish a best-in-class engineering pipeline. Nurture a culture of learning, collaboration and blameless continuous improvement will be key.
- Collaborate with Vendors and Partners to source data
- Develop subject-matter expertise in Data Engineering
- Partner with product and engineering to ensure product changes integrate well with the data platform
- Partner with diverse stakeholder teams, understand their challenges, create empathy and empower them with data solutions to meet their goals
- Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into requirements
- Define product outcomes, and turn those into outcome-based roadmaps that are executable by engineering through user story creation that have clear acceptance criteria
- Set data quality on data sources and automate and maintain a quality control capability
- Participate in data governance
- Perform team's portfolio-level planning, sprint board management, release plans and status
- Identify & assess current (and future where possible) risks and impediments and mitigate them
- Utilize data to prioritize, measure outcomes and pivot approach when needed
- Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, models and automated systems
- Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community
- Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
- At least 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Architect, or Product Manager
- Track record of successfully implementing Agile/Lean/XP framework concepts with less than a mature, start-up, or small-sized organizations
- You have hands-on and deep experience with schema design, data modeling, ontologies, and data pipelines
- You are proficient in SQL and at least one major language (e.g., Python, Java, PHP)
- You have an eye for detail. You catch & resolve data quality issues before others do
- You are always looking for opportunities to simplify, automate tasks. You use good judgment in applying new technologies to solve business problems
- You strive for elegant and intuitive dataset design
- You build strong relationships with analysts, and business and engineering stakeholders to create a productive team culture
- You are independent. You can prioritize well and break down amorphous problems into concrete tasks based on business context
- Able to work in an agile environment and willing to pair with others
- Statistics knowledge is a plus
- Machine Learning Model building, validation, and operations is a plus
- Leadership aspiration: this role could grow in scope for the right candidate
- Experience working at a startup or small company is a plus
- You must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time in an office setting while working
