Job Summary:Â
We are looking for a Product Manager who will oversee the design, development, launch and iteration of Ruggable’s data infrastructure. The Product Manager will be a foundational member of the data team and serve as a key player in Ruggable’s growth. You’ll partner directly with a team of in-house data and analytics engineers and work with other data users around the company. The position will be based either in our headquarters in Los Angeles, CA or Chicago, IL.
What You’ll Do:
- Play an integral role in defining the short-term and long-term technology strategy for Ruggable’s suite of data products and data lake
- Own and be responsible for the end-to-end process of planning, execution, testing, and overall success of technical projects within data
- Plan, document, and articulate product strategy and plans to internal customers and stakeholders
- Ability to delegate tasks and enlist support from project managers, data analysts, other stakeholders while maintaining overall initiative deadlines
- Be able to make informed decisions on when to apply a short term or long term approach to problem solving.
- Work directly with engineers to launch new products and features, test performance, and iterate quickly meanwhile bridging the gap with other key stakeholders.Â
- Work cross-functionally with leaders across the organization to create processes that solve complex challenges and are built to scale
- Build and foster relationships with stakeholders and gain an intimate understanding of pain points of our end users to understand which problems to solve, how, when, and why.
- Be able to learn the overall data architecture of Ruggable quickly and ability to diagnose areas for improvement and digest problems presented by business partners.
What You’ll Need to Have:
Required:Â
- Technical Background (Bachelor’s Degree: computer science, or mechanical/industrial engineering, business or related field)
- 3-5 years of product management experience (ideally at a consumer tech company)
- Feel very comfortable using SQL at an advanced level to quickly analyze different datasets to drive key KPIs and perform QA
- Proficiency in Atlassian Suite: Jira, Confluence
- Ability to write clear epic/PRDs and ability to translate that into user stories/acceptance criteriaÂ
- Background in managing and leveraging a wide variety of third party systems (Shopify, Optimizely, Heap, Google Analytics, DataDog, AWS, delta files etc.)
- Ability to document articulate product plans - google docs, sheets, confluence, etc.
- Knowledge of data transformation processes, approaches and platforms leveraged
- Understanding of how users interact with and experience using BI platforms (Looker, Tableau)
- Product Owner/PMP Certification is a plus
Collaboration:
- Define and drive the strategy and vision and build the roadmap for Ruggable’s data platform
- Comfortable storytelling the “Why” of a feature and/or epic to developers and to stakeholders
- Able to dig into stakeholder pain points, understand the root issue, and develop a strategic & prioritized plan for solution that matches timings of other teams
- Ability to connect and empathize with users
- Understanding the un-said issues and ask why to get to the core issue
Execution:
- Experience writing stories, specifications and partnering closely with technology teams, running backlog groomings and prioritizing sprints
- Ability to define clear success criteria for testing and lead UAT and Beta launches with key users
- Experience understanding and analyzing data pipelines, algorithms, apis and automated systems
Leadership:
- Exceptional communication skills, with ability to collaborate with engineers, data scientists, data analysts and functional stakeholders; proven ability to provide the voice of the customer
- Strong critical thinking skills and a strategic approach to problem-solving
- Self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
- Comfortable looking beyond the backlog to create new opportunities
- Motivate and lead peers with positive attitude and celebrate successes of the team
Preferred:
- Experience working at a company in growth phase
- Experience working with operational teams (Fulfillment, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, etc)
- Experience working with ERPs directly (e.g. NetSuite, Oracle Cloud, SAP)
Compensation:
- $120,000 - $132,000 per year base salary
- An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
- Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
