Job Summary

The Standard Insurance Company is seeking a skilled Technical Product Owner - Application Development to join our Rapid Application Development team to support the development and implementation of application and workflow products at The Standard.

As a Product Owner in our area, you will play a critical role in defining and delivering our software products, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our solutions meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to gather & document requirements, and ensure that product backlog items are well-defined and testable ahead of sprint execution. You will work closely with development teams to ensure that product backlog items are properly implemented, and meet the needs of our customers ahead of demos. Additionally, you will develop and maintain product roadmaps and release planning to ensure that our products are delivered on time, and that risks associated with product development and delivery are mitigated. Ultimately, you will work with our development teams to ensure successful product delivery, while leveraging the latest technologies and tools to drive innovation and efficiency.

This position partners with Change Management Organization and Communication leads to ensure the following:

  • stakeholder impact assessments are completed and change/communication plans are executed as the program evolves for the larger organization:
  • establish advocacy groups and other constructs that help create transparency to the work and serve as a communication vehicle back to their organizations.
  • Ensures impacts to people, process and technology are known and there is an organizational change plan to address.
  • Works with change and communications representatives to provide ongoing updates/transparency to the work, successes, and challenges.

Over time you will gain an understanding of the business and technology landscapes and apply that understanding to help develop future state capabilities. This role finds opportunities to support strategic goals, drive business growth, and enhance profit margins.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 4 - 5 years of experience in same or similar role
  • Role models superior customer focus and demonstrated ability to manage multiple customers and products at once.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate product plans and progress to stakeholders, including IT leaders, customers, and internal teams. The ability to explain technical topics to varying audiences is a requirement of the role.
  • Top candidates will excel in teamwork and building positive relationships with colleagues and customers. You are a voracious learner about the business and institutional structure of The Standard and group insurance in general, seeking out new opportunities where our solutions can solve problems.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

 

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$104,750.00 - $153,500.00
